Job Description:

The Regional Reimbursement Director (RRD) is field-based job with local responsible for the overall management of the reimbursement environment for all Ipsen US portfolio products within the Oncology therapeutic area in the healthcare provider channel as well as managing relationships with local Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs). Successful performance will include providing quality and timely field-based reimbursement support among targeted Healthcare Providers (HCPs) for Ipsen’s Oncology therapies.

The RRD will be an expert in understanding and translating local and national payer policies and will assist existing and emerging customers in all aspects of reimbursement (coding, coverage, payment) to ensure patients have access to Ipsen therapies.

This is a field-based position covering the Northeast & Mid Atlantic Territory (CT, DE, ME, MD, MA, NH, NJ, NY, PA, RI, VT, WV, DC) through a mix of live (primary) and virtual channels. Eligible candidates must reside near a major airport within the region.

WHAT - Main Responsibilities & Technical Competencies

• Collaborate with the Ipsen Value & Access home office and field teams, sales teams, brand teams, and the IPSEN CARES Patient support hub to expand access and/or reduce barriers to access for Ipsen’s Oncology products.
• Assist with the design and development of reimbursement related strategies, tactics, tools, and approved materials for use in the field.
• Develop and maintain relationships with key contacts within the MACs and ensure appropriate access to Ipsen’s Oncology product portfolio.
• Provide reimbursement support as needed at advisory boards or professional conferences.
• Increase the awareness of, and work closely with, the IPSEN CARES Patient support hub.
• Serve as an internal field reimbursement expert with Ipsen’s teams (e.g., sales and account management) by providing ongoing competitive intelligence and by identifying reimbursement-related barriers to access.
• Support appropriate patient access for all Ipsen therapies by providing timely and appropriate reimbursement information related to coverage, coding, and payment policies across all payers relevant to a provider’s patient mix. This includes:
  • Private physician practices
  • Hospitals & academic institutions
  • Thought leaders and advocates
  • Regional and State Society advocates
• Coordinate with internal resources to support Ipsen presentations at payer and healthcare provider meetings.
• Achieve target metrics related to timely and appropriate response to customer requests for reimbursement support.
• Support strategic analysis and planning related to changes in local payer coverage policies.
• Advise Ipsen Account Managers of specific payer access challenges, and/or other access related payer trends.
• Assist in the development of reimbursement-related training programs for healthcare providers.
• Understand and be able to translate local/regional payer payment trends, policies, and relationships to assist Ipsen’s efforts to address non-clinical barriers impacting utilization of Ipsen’s therapies.

Oncology Business Growth & Strategic Expansion

• Partner with Oncology Sales, Account Management, Market Access, and Brand teams to identify and address reimbursement and access barriers that may impact product adoption, utilization, and growth across the oncology portfolio.
• Provide field-based insights and access intelligence to support strategic initiatives that expand the reach and utilization of Ipsen’s oncology therapies across academic centers, integrated health systems, and community-based oncology practices.
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to identify emerging opportunities for business growth by analyzing treatment patterns, referral networks, payer coverage trends, and site-of-care dynamics within the oncology marketplace.

New Oncology Product Launch Readiness

• Support the successful launch of new oncology assets by evaluating regional reimbursement readiness, payer coverage considerations, coding requirements, and potential patient access barriers.
• Collaborate with internal teams to develop and implement launch-related reimbursement strategies, educational materials, and stakeholder engagement plans designed to optimize patient access and provider adoption.
• Serve as a field-based reimbursement lead during launch activities by providing actionable market intelligence regarding payer policies, utilization management requirements, specialty pharmacy dynamics, and competitive access considerations.

Oncology Market Access Intelligence & Competitive Landscape

• Continuously monitor the oncology market access environment, including payer coverage policies, prior authorization requirements, step therapy protocols, coding and payment updates, specialty pharmacy trends, and utilization management practices.
• Track competitive reimbursement and access developments across the oncology marketplace and provide timely insights and recommendations to internal stakeholders.
• Analyze the impact of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer policy changes on patient access, provider prescribing behavior, and utilization of Ipsen’s oncology portfolio.
• Monitor evolving site-of-care management strategies, HCP reimbursement trends, and specialty drug management programs that may affect access to oncology therapies.

Provider and Stakeholder Engagement

• Develop and maintain relationships with key oncology practice administrators, reimbursement specialists, infusion center leaders, and advocacy organizations to better understand evolving access challenges and opportunities.
• Support educational programs and strategic discussions with healthcare providers on reimbursement best practices, payer policy changes, and market access trends affecting oncology patients and therapies.

Cross-Functional Strategic Support

• Serve as a strategic access partner to Oncology Brand and Market Access teams by communicating field insights that inform forecasting, lifecycle management, evidence dissemination, and future product planning.
• Contribute to the development of reimbursement resources, training programs, and field tools that support both current portfolio growth and future oncology product launches.

HOW - Knowledge & Experience

Knowledge & Experience (essential):

• 10+ years of pharmaceutical, biotech, or consulting industry experience.
• 5+ years of related reimbursement experience with injectable or infused drugs, or medical device products that require reimbursement support.
• Experience should be highly indicative of proficiency to overcome access related issues at the provider and payer level.
• Expert level knowledge of coverage, coding, and payment policies.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, along with problem solving and organizational skills.
• Strong business, analytical, administrative, and team building skills are essential.
• Ability to simplify complex messages and rationale in a compliant manner.
• Ability to work independently and lead effectively in a fast paced, highly fluid, and matrixed environment, managing multiple priorities while appropriately prioritizing workload and deliverables.
• Highest personal integrity and ethics; strong sense of judgment and discretion.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills are required.
• PC literacy required: MSOffice skills (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), e-mail, texting, use of mobile smart phone, Veeva CRM, Concur expense reporting software.
• Physical requirement to use relevant machines and/or equipment as needed.
• Ability to invest time, as required, to expedite or complete assignments which may necessitate working evening and/or weekend hours as necessary to meet business needs.
• Ability to manage a large geographic territory and work effectively from a home office, vehicle, or customer location as required.
• Business travel of up to 60%, including regular overnight travel by air or car; must reside within proximity to a major airport within the region.

Knowledge & Experience (preferred):

• Previous reimbursement support experience with physician administered (“buy and bill”) oncology drugs is preferred.
• Experience with Medicare Part D products is strongly preferred.

Education / Certifications (essential):

• Bachelor’s degree in public policy, economics, business administration, life sciences, or equivalent is required.

Education / Certifications (preferred):

• Advanced degree (MBA, MPH, MS) is preferred.
• Certification in Medical Coding preferred.

Compensation

The annual base salary range for this position is $161,250 - $236,500

The pay range displayed above is the range of base pay compensation within which Ipsen expects to pay for this role at the time of this posting. Individual compensation within this range depends on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, prior education and experience, job-related knowledge and demonstrated skills
