Experienced Critical Power Field Technician (UPS Field Engineer) Job Summary: We are seeking an Experienced Critical Power Field Technician (UPS Field Engineer) in Richmond, Virginia and surrounding areas to support onsite preventive, corrective, and restorative maintenance of critical power systems (UPS, DC systems, inverters, PDUs, STS, and standalone reserve battery technologies). Core Responsibilities: Install electrical equipment such as small rack‑mounted UPS equipment, various‑sized batteries, and UPS/Battery monitoring equipment. Maintain battery cabinets, racks, bypass, battery monitoring equipment, DC systems, and other electrical equipment. Perform periodic and lifecycle‑driven remedial services, including failure analysis, troubleshooting, component replacements, repairs, and battery string replacements and installations. Build customer relationships and provide excellent customer service. Respond to field troubleshooting calls and resolve issues to customer satisfaction. Respond quickly to critical situations. Teach and mentor crew members on proper techniques for site work, troubleshooting, repair, and data analysis. Isolate physical, software, and interface malfunctions using test equipment on multiple products and technologies. Specific duties may vary or evolve over time based on business and client needs. Core Experience / Qualifications: Prior military training in electronics or avionics (A School, AIT, etc.) preferred. Minimum of three (3) years in a third‑party critical power field service or technical support role with demonstrated progression in technical proficiency, or Minimum of five (5) years in an OEM service environment in the critical power space. Good understanding of AC/DC electrical principles. Knowledge of test equipment operation, such as multimeters and battery test equipment. Read and interpret electronics schematics; troubleshoot failures to the component level. Experience enforcing compliance with FCC/FAA/EPA/OSHA regulations and standards. Outstanding work ethic, punctuality, trustworthiness, and reliability. Good judgment and the ability to make timely and sound decisions in fast‑paced environments. Compliance with OSHA and applicable DOT standards. Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record and ability to pass a pre‑employment drug screen. Physical ability to lift, kneel, crouch, stand, travel, and lift heavy objects as required by the job.
