Opens: June 17, 2026 • Closes: July 5, 2026 Position Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center (AFNWC) is currently seeking a full‑time Operations Research Analyst (009770331M) to work in the Nuclear Weapons Acquisition Division (AFNWC/NDB) at Eglin, Air Force Base, FL. Key Details Full‑time, non‑supervisory NH‑1515‑03 Typical 2026 salary range $89,508 – $138,370 (locality included) Not eligible for full‑time or remote telework; situational telework may be offered at the discretion of the hiring manager Important Information AFNWC requires a 2‑page resume format. Duties Performs a broad range of operations research analyses assignments entailing unique problems, creativity, innovative use of techniques, advanced approaches, and/or new technologies; develops complex major defense acquisition program cost estimates and analyses supporting ACATI and/or equivalent programs/projects. Works with program management office (PMO) Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) to understand program requirements, establish assumptions, develop data sources, and deliver cost estimates, cost models, and formal documentation necessary for sound Life Cycle Cost Estimates (LCCEs) and analysis to inform program management decisions. Supports PMOs through the PPBE process, updating annual program office estimates/LCCEs to support POM submissions, cost/budget drills, data requests, etc. Provides technical guidance, advisory support, and assistance on an entire project and/or major phases for broad and varied operations. Attends various types of meetings and conferences related to program planning, advanced technologies, and support system concepts. Represents AFNWC during visits with government and industry representatives; prepares and presents briefings, technical reports and/or documents progress and results. Accomplishes professional development and maintains technical proficiency through professional interaction with technical and professional societies, associations, academia, symposia, contractors, research, and development (R&D) organizations, and participation in formal training programs. Keeps current of emerging analytical techniques and research methods through independent study and reading/reviewing technical journals and current literature. Other Skills Knowledge of a broad range of operations research analysis techniques and possession of analytical abilities. Knowledge of quantitative techniques and methods used to develop, adapt, modify, and apply models to resolve problems or define and clarify alternative solutions. Skill to negotiate and/or defend findings and program support concepts. Ability to lead study teams and originate new ideas, projects, and methodologies; and execute projects and/or studies within established financial and/or time constraints. Ability to develop and utilize appropriate data collection techniques, and design, build, and use models and simulation techniques. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; negotiate complex issues; and maintain good working relations. Requirements U.S. citizenship. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top‑Secret security clearance. Handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations. Degree in operations research; or at least 24 semester hours in operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject‑matter courses requiring substantial competence in college‑level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus. Must meet or be capable of meeting Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) Business Cost Estimating Practitioner certification requirements within 24 months of assignment. Must engage in acquisition continuous learning activities achieving 80 Continuous Learning points every 24 months. Financial Management Level2 Certified; must comply with certification program within 24 months of assignment. Must engage in FM and leadership‑related education and training continuous learning activities achieving 40 Continuous Learning points every 24 months. May be required to file an OGE Form 450, Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, upon appointment and annually per the Ethics in Government Act, 1978.
