Mechanical DesignerLocation: Knoxville, TN 37902 Work Environment: Onsite | Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM Pay Range: $35–$55 per hourPosition OverviewM Force Partners is seeking a Mechanical Designer to support the development of complex mechanical systems, equipment, and facility designs for industrial and government projects. This position will focus on producing detailed 3D models, fabrication packages, plant layouts, piping designs, and equipment drawings while ensuring compliance with applicable engineering codes and regulatory requirements.The ideal Mechanical Designer has 2–4 years of relevant industrial design experience with strong working proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD Plant 3D. This individual should also have experience with Inventor and/or SolidWorks and a strong understanding of ASME codes, mechanical design fundamentals, piping systems, and fabrication drawings.The Mechanical Designer will collaborate with engineers and multidisciplinary project teams to develop accurate, buildable designs for highly regulated industrial environments, including Department of Defense (DoD) and Department of Energy (DOE) projects.Key ResponsibilitiesProduce detailed 3D equipment models and build-to-print fabrication packages for specialty and first-of-a-kind equipmentUse Revit and AutoCAD Plant 3D to develop mechanical designs, plant layouts, piping systems, and equipment modelsDevelop plant, facility, equipment, piping, and site general arrangement drawingsCreate elevations, sections, detailed views, and supporting engineering drawingsProduce detailed design and fabrication drawings for process equipment, facility equipment, ASME piping, HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical supportsDevelop complex mechanical models and fabrication drawings using Inventor and/or SolidWorksCoordinate with engineers and multidisciplinary project teams to develop layouts and resolve technical design issuesInterpret and apply applicable Federal, State, and Local codes and standards, including DOE OrdersEnsure mechanical designs comply with applicable ASME codes and engineering standardsSupport the design of containment systems, sheet metal equipment, and other mechanical systemsCollect and compile field data to support engineering and design activitiesParticipate in site walkdowns and support development of accurate as-built documentationAssist with material takeoffs, estimates, and procurement documentationReview technical specifications and incorporate requirements into engineering drawings and modelsOrganize and prioritize design activities to meet established project schedules and deadlinesCommunicate technical questions, design concerns, and project requirements with engineering and project team membersMaintain accurate and organized design documentation throughout the project lifecycleRequired QualificationsAssociate degree in Mechanical Design, Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field, or equivalent relevant professional experience2–4 years of relevant industrial mechanical design experienceDemonstrated professional experience using Revit for mechanical design, equipment modeling, and facility layoutsDemonstrated professional experience using AutoCAD Plant 3D for plant layout and piping systemsMinimum of 2 years of experience using Inventor and/or SolidWorks for complex mechanical modeling and fabrication drawingsStrong knowledge of ASME codes and standardsWorking knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and Local codes and standardsKnowledge of DOE Orders and requirements applicable to engineering and design projectsStrong understanding of mechanical design fundamentalsExperience developing detailed mechanical and fabrication drawingsExperience with piping, process equipment, facility equipment, or related industrial mechanical systemsKnowledge of containment systems and sheet metal equipmentAbility to interpret technical specifications and translate engineering requirements into detailed drawingsAbility to collect and document field information and support site walkdownsAbility to manage multiple priorities while meeting defined project schedulesStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to collaborate effectively with engineers and multidisciplinary project teamsAbility to provide examples of previous mechanical design workAbility to successfully complete required drug screeningMust meet ITAR U.S. Person requirementsAbility to obtain and maintain a security clearance or site badge if requiredAbility to work onsite in Knoxville, TN, Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM–5:00 PMPreferred QualificationsPrevious mechanical design experience supporting Department of Energy (DOE) or Department of Defense (DoD) projectsExperience working within highly regulated industrial, government, nuclear, or similar environmentsExperience developing ASME piping designs and drawingsExperience with plant and facility layout designExperience designing HVAC, plumbing, equipment supports, and related facility systemsExperience developing first-of-a-kind or specialty equipmentExperience with material takeoffs, estimating, and procurement documentationExperience developing as-built drawings from field conditionsExperience working within multidisciplinary engineering teamsJob presented by M Force PartnersM Force Partners is a specialized recruitment partner connecting top-tier talent with leading organizations.
