MedStar Health is looking for a Cardiac Interventional Technologist II to join our team at MedStar Franklin Square Hospital. Join one of the largest healthcare systems in the Baltimore‑Washington metro region, also recognized as one of the “Healthiest Maryland Businesses.” Primary Duties Administers contrast media into the coronary arteries as directed by a Cardiologist during a cardiac catheterization procedure. Assesses pathology and vital signs to determine the required pressure for each hand injection. Applies knowledge of normal physiologic and electrocardiographic sequences, recognizing both minor and dangerous arrhythmias, and provides appropriate patient care. Functions as a first assistant to the physician by scrubbing independently and aiding in the manipulation and placement of guide wires and catheters. Schedules and maintains orderly patient flow, ensuring timely and efficient patient management. Maintains adequate interventional and cardiac supplies, records, and department check sheets; orders supplies from vendors via the hospital purchasing system; and assists the supervisor with inventory control. Correctly enters patient and supply information into the RIS and/or hospital computer system. Performs hemodynamic physiologic patient monitoring, records calculations for cardiovascular procedures, and conducts electrophysiology and ablation procedures. Provides high‑quality patient care and monitoring throughout all phases of the procedure, operating emergency equipment safely and responding to on‑call emergencies in accordance with department policy. Performs pre‑procedural duties such as sterile tray preparation, patient education, and confirmation of required lab work and medical history; and post‑procedural duties including observation, management of catheter insertion sites, and patient discharge instructions. Provides patient transportation and communicates patient care status to the receiving care unit. Safely operates all imaging equipment (digital equipment, pressure injectors, processors, rapid film changers, and cine) to produce high‑quality diagnostic images in accordance with departmental policy. Qualifications Satisfactory completion of an AMA‑approved school of Radiologic Technology of at least 2 years duration. At least 2 years of experience in diagnostic radiology. Experience in interventional radiology/cardiac catheterization or an equivalent area. American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) certification or registration. Radiology Technologist license in the State of Maryland. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification or eligibility.
