Program Overview Telecare family: Riverside County Mental Health Rehabilitation Center (MHRC) is a licensed 79-bed sub‑acute residential program located in Riverside, CA. The program provides longer‑term mental health recovery services 24/7/365 within a supportive, structured, and secure inpatient environment designed to help clients prepare to move to the community and/or lower levels of care. Shifts Available Short Hour: Fri - Sat Expected starting wage range is $50.96 - $62.96. Telecare applies geographic differentials to its pay ranges. The pay range assigned is based on the location of the role. Starting pay is commensurate with relevant experience above the minimum requirements. Position Summary Implements and supervises the overall direct nursing care provided by the nursing department on their designated shift. Under general supervision, provides program planning development, review and evaluation of clinical and administrative activities; uses critical thinking and independent judgement to direct, coordinate and oversee the nursing and other health care services of a program to clients across the age spectrum and / or targeted populations; supervises an assigned multidisciplinary team including professional, para‑professional support staff, nursing students and interns; assigns direct report employees to work with clients according to client needs and the skills and strengths of individual team members. Qualifications Required Two (2) years of psychiatric direct care nursing experience and at least two (2) years of experience in a supervisory role. Completion of Telecare assigned Supervisory training within 12 months in lieu of supervisory experience. Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and current licensure as a Registered Nurse by the State of California. Must be CPR, Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI), and First Aid certified on date of employment or within 60 days of employment and maintain current certification throughout employment. Must be at least 18 years of age. All opportunities are contingent upon successful completion and receipt of acceptable results of the applicable post‑offer physical examination, 2‑step PPD test for tuberculosis, acceptable criminal background clearances, excluded party sanctions, and degree or license verification. For driving roles, valid driver license, motor vehicle clearance, and proof of auto insurance are required at time of employment and must be maintained throughout employment. Additional regulatory, contractual, or local requirements may apply. Preferred Current knowledge of psychiatric illnesses, regulatory requirements regarding the delivery of health care to persons with mental illness, and infection control requirements. Essential Functions Applies management practices that include empowerment of staff, clear and concise expectations, and frequent feedback. Promotes harmonious relationships and effective communication within and across departments. Provides functional and administrative supervision for assigned professional, para‑professional, support staff, nursing students or interns. Exercises independent judgment and discretion to provide day‑to‑day supervision of designated staff members, including: Assigning staff to individual clients based on needs and skillsets. Directing staff in job duties. Training and coaching staff. Evaluating job performance. Overseeing disciplinary processes as needed. Participating in recruitment and selection of new staff members. Provides clinical assistance/oversight of staff performing case management and care coordination. Investigates, gathers data and responds to issues and grievances; escalates matters as appropriate. Works with other shifts to assure accurate and complete documentation. May need to be available on a 24‑hour basis in the event of an emergency. May collaborate with other administrative staff in strategic planning activities. Supports recruitment, selection and onboarding of nursing department employees. Consults with the DON regarding staffing and delivery improvements. Coordinates nursing department efforts with other departments, promoting cost‑effective use of personnel, supplies and equipment. Assumes charge or shift lead responsibility as needed. Collects data relevant to care, develops and implements nursing care plans. Adheres to medication management policies and procedures. Receives and presents change of shift reports as assigned. Documents progress toward Recovery Plan goals. Assists with restraint of members served in the event of assaultive behavior and requires assault crisis/crisis prevention training. Skills Leadership and supervision. Review and implementation of Recovery/Treatment plans. Administration of oral and injectable medications. Input and observation reporting. Crisis de‑escalation techniques. Knowledge of Infection Control policies. Knowledge of crisis management and intervention. Physical Demands The physical demands include occasional sitting, walking, bending, squatting, kneeling, twisting, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting/carrying items weighing 25 pounds or less. The position requires frequent standing and simple power grasping. The role involves manual dexterity, repetition, and exposure to hazardous materials such as blood‑borne pathogens, hospital waste, chemicals, and infectious agents.
