Litigation Attorney

Position Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated Litigation Attorney to join our civil litigation team with a primary focus on personal injury matters. The ideal candidate will manage a full caseload from intake through trial, advocate for clients in pretrial proceedings and in court, and work collaboratively with experts and colleagues to achieve favorable outcomes. This role offers opportunities to develop expertise in medical malpractice and Admiralty & Maritime matters as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a full caseload of personal injury litigation matters, including client intake, case evaluation, strategy development, and resolution.
• Draft and file pleadings, motions, discovery requests/responses, and other court documents in a timely and professional manner.
• Prepare for and conduct depositions, mediations, arbitrations, settlement conferences, and bench/jury trials.
• Develop and maintain relationships with medical experts, accident reconstructionists, and other consultants; review and analyze medical records and expert reports.
• Negotiate settlements with opposing counsel and insurance carriers while protecting client interests and maximizing recovery.
• Work closely with investigators and paralegals to gather evidence, preserve test results, and manage exhibits and trial preparation.
• Provide clear, timely communication and counsel to clients, keeping them informed of case status, strategy, and potential outcomes.
• Maintain accurate case files, billing records, and adhere to firm and court deadlines and ethical obligations.
• Stay current on relevant case law, statutes, and procedural rules; participate in continuing legal education and firm training.
• Where applicable, assist in matters involving medical malpractice and Admiralty & Maritime law, coordinating with specialized counsel and experts.

Qualifications

• Track record in civil litigation with demonstrated experience in personal injury litigation; trial experience preferred.
• Proven litigation skills including drafting pleadings and motions, taking and defending depositions, and trying cases before bench or jury.
• Strong negotiation skills and experience resolving matters through settlement, mediation, and alternative dispute resolution.
• Exceptional legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills; proficiency with Westlaw, LexisNexis, and common case management platforms.
• Ability to analyze medical records and work effectively with medical experts; prior exposure to medical malpractice matters is a plus.
• Experience or interest in Admiralty & Maritime law is desirable but not required; willingness to learn and collaborate with maritime specialists.
• Excellent client-service orientation, professional demeanor, and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
• Willingness to travel to court, depositions, and client meetings as required; valid drivers license and reliable transportation.
