County Caseworker 1 (Local Government) - Mifflin County Children & Youth

Mifflin County Children and Youth Services is seeking a County Caseworker 1 who is ready to support children and families during important moments of change. As a County Caseworker 1, you will perform the following duties: Initial Actions: Implement initial action plans based on new intake calls and follow up on case developments Case Reviews: Conduct visits and review existing cases to evaluate family needs and progress CPS Investigations: Carry out child protective services investigations to ensure child safety while encouraging healthy family environments Service Access: Coordinate with service providers so families receive the support and resources they need Family Support: Monitor family progress and work toward stabilizing and strengthening the family unit Work Schedule and Additional Information Full-time employment. 72.50 hours bi-weekly Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 45-minute lunch. Caseworkers will share on-call duties. Travel and overtime as needed. Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements Two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college level course work which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences;?or A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 or in a similar position performing paraprofessional case management functions. Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits. Other Requirements PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title. This particular position also requires you to possess a valid driver’s license which is not under suspension. You must be able to perform essential job functions. Legal Requirements This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law. Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
