Maintenance Manager – Advanced Technology Facility Columbia City, Indiana | $80,000–$112,000 Based On Experience | Full-Time Lead Maintenance in a Different Kind of Manufacturing Environment This isn't your typical manufacturing maintenance department. Our client operates an advanced electron beam technology facility in Columbia City, where sophisticated equipment and technology come together in a highly controlled, clean environment. We're looking for a Maintenance Manager who can lead a small, highly technical maintenance team while still being comfortable understanding the equipment and troubleshooting complex problems. You'll lead a team of approximately four direct reports , report directly to the General Manager , and work closely with Corporate Engineering through a dotted-line relationship. This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys the technical side of maintenance but is ready to take ownership of the people, processes, documentation, reliability, and projects that keep an advanced facility operating. What You'll Own Lead the facility's maintenance function and a team of approximately four maintenance professionals Oversee general and preventive maintenance for machinery, equipment, buildings, and facility systems Ensure preventive maintenance is completed on schedule and properly documented Maintain the facility's computerized maintenance management/EAM system and ensure work orders and maintenance records remain current Troubleshoot equipment issues with facility personnel before escalating problems to Corporate Engineering Serve as the maintenance liaison between the General Manager and Corporate Engineering Coordinate facility improvement and engineering projects from planning through completion Manage contractors and outside service providers performing work at the facility Ensure contractors meet required safety and environmental standards Maintain appropriate spare parts, tools, and maintenance inventory Oversee preventive maintenance on forklifts and other specialized equipment Monitor maintenance work orders and ensure completed work is properly documented Maintain vendor relationships and keep vendor information current Assist the General Manager and Corporate Engineering with special projects Evaluate the overall effectiveness of the facility's maintenance program Provide guidance and recommendations regarding the performance of maintenance personnel Maintain 24-hour on-call availability to assist with critical troubleshooting The Technology This is where the role becomes particularly interesting for the right maintenance professional. The facility utilizes advanced electron beam technology , creating a maintenance environment that involves sophisticated equipment and systems rather than a traditional production floor. We're particularly interested in people who have worked around complex electrical or electronic systems such as: High-voltage equipment RF or radio-frequency systems Radio and communications equipment Radar or other military electronics Nuclear or nuclear-support systems Industrial controls and instrumentation Medical or other highly technical equipment Defense, aerospace, or other mission-critical technology You don't necessarily need experience with electron beam equipment. We're interested in the technical foundation you bring . Someone who has spent years troubleshooting sophisticated military electronics, high-voltage systems, RF equipment, nuclear systems, or other complex technology may have a very strong foundation for learning this environment. The Team This is a small, highly focused maintenance organization . You'll have approximately four direct reports , allowing you to stay close to the people and the equipment rather than spending your day managing layers of supervisors. You'll work directly with the General Manager while maintaining a strong working relationship with Corporate Engineering. That means your ability to communicate a technical problem clearly, work through troubleshooting, document what happened, and determine when additional engineering support is needed will be important. What We're Looking For We're looking for a technically minded maintenance leader — someone who can manage people and processes but isn't afraid to get into the details when a complicated piece of equipment isn't behaving the way it should. You'll ideally have: 5+ years of maintenance experience At least 2 years of supervisory or management experience Strong electrical and electronic troubleshooting ability The ability to read and understand engineering schematics Experience troubleshooting complex equipment and systems Strong mechanical and electrical fundamentals Experience with computerized maintenance management systems Strong documentation and organizational skills The ability to work effectively with both facility personnel and Corporate Engineering Strong safety awareness and attention to detail Proficiency with Microsoft Office A bachelor's degree in engineering, technology, business, or a related field is preferred, but relevant technical and leadership experience will be considered.
