Dental Assistant
Job Summary
Assists dentist, sets up equipment, prepares patients' for treatment, and keeps records.

General Accountabilities

• Prepare patients for treatment; ensure comfort and readiness for procedures.
• Sterilize and disinfect instruments in accordance with infection control protocols.
• Set up and break down operatories, including preparation of instrument trays and dental materials.
• Assist the dentist chairside during a variety of dental procedures.
• Accurately document treatment information in patient records.
• Obtain diagnostic dental radiographs (X-rays) as prescribed.
• Record and update patients’ medical and dental histories, including vital signs.
• Assist in the management of medical and dental emergencies as needed.
• Provide patients with post-operative instructions as directed by the dentist.
• Maintain, order, and track dental supplies, lab work.
• Fabricate temporary restorations and custom impressions from preliminary impressions.
• Take preliminary impressions for study models and occlusal registrations.
• Utilize digital dental technology; experience with intraoral scanners is preferred.

Job Qualifications

• Education: Post-secondary certificate from an accredited dental assisting program
• Experience: 1–2 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Preferred:
  • Familiarity with digital dentistry workflows, including intraoral scanning systems
  • Cross-training or willingness to assist with front office duties
