Join the Reynaud Lab within the Division of Experimental Hematology & Cancer Biology at Cincinnati Children's, where we study how chronic metabolic conditions such as obesity and diabetes influence hematopoietic stem cell function and contribute to blood disorders and leukemia. Our research seeks to uncover the cellular and molecular mechanisms that regulate blood stem cell fate and adaptation to chronic stress, with the ultimate goal of developing novel therapeutic approaches. The Research Assistant will play a key role in supporting laboratory operations, ensuring regulatory and biosafety compliance, managing mouse colonies, and contributing directly to innovative research projects in a collaborative and discovery-driven environment.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform experiments and record data - Follow research protocol. Maintain accurate and detailed records of all laboratory work and experiments. Analyze data; perform statistical and graphical analysis of data. Design and execute daily laboratory experiments in coordination with senior laboratory personnel. Reproduces and evaluates techniques and results for accuracy. Apply standard protocols to specific experiments, research and improve current methods, and evaluate innovative techniques. Assists in training students and new/junior laboratory personnel in laboratory techniques and equipment operation.
Customer Service - Maintain/manage strong working relationships with clients, colleagues, and other key stakeholders. Respond to requests quickly and effectively. Identify and understand customer needs and expectations and meets them. Communicate any relevant information to clients, colleagues, and other key stakeholders.
Lab Administration - Troubleshoot and correct erroneous results or problems with laboratory equipment. Reproduces and evaluates techniques and results for accuracy. Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies and equipment. Maintain cell cultures. Operate standard laboratory equipment. Use and maintains laboratory equipment appropriately. Responds to obviously erroneous results or problems with equipment. Assists in daily operations of the laboratory including answering phone, maintaining lab supplies, organization, and cleanliness.. Provides appropriate safety monitoring checks as assigned (radiation safety, biosafety, etc.).
Serve as a Resource - Demonstrate competence in specific knowledge, skills and behaviors. Effectively communicate with team members and contribute to their growth by sharing knowledge, experience, and skills. Stay abreast of changes in key systems. Serve as a resource to the department in specific area(s).
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent, AND 2 years of work experience in a related job discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience
Or Preferred: Bachelor's degree in a related field
