Veterinary Extern - General Practice

Freemont Animal Hospital Externship (Veterinary Students) Freemont Animal Hospital is a general practice offering state‑of‑the‑art diagnostics, digital radiography (including dental), dentistry, surgery (including LSS stifle repairs), and ultrasound (AFAST, TFAST, VetBlue). We have participated in many externships for veterinary technicians and veterinary students. Responsibilities Assist in gathering patient histories Perform physical exams Create treatment plans Participate in diagnostics and dentistry services Observe or assist/perform surgical procedures Help with medical management of patients Practice communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients Duration & Stipend Externship duration ranges from 2 to 8 weeks, depending on student and hospital schedules. Veterinary students in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend.
