LPN Medical Surgical

Job Summary:

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) will provide nursing care primarily on Medical Surgical/Observation units and float to various Med-Surg units as needed. The role involves managing patient care with RN oversight, utilizing clinical skills such as telemetry reading and IV therapy, and maintaining proficiency in Epic EMR. The LPN will work night shifts delivering high-quality nursing care in a fast-paced hospital environment. Responsibilities:

• Provide nursing care to patients on Medical Surgical/Observation units and other Med-Surg units including Surgical, Respiratory, Wound Care, Stroke, Oncology, Cardiac, and Observation.
• Manage a patient load of 5 patients with RN oversight.
• Perform clinical tasks including telemetry monitoring and IV therapy.
• Utilize Epic EMR system proficiently for documentation and communication.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure comprehensive patient care.
• Adhere to hospital policies and procedures to maintain patient safety and care standards.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active Ohio Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Minimum 2 years recent hospital experience.
• Proficiency in Epic EMR system (no refresher training available).
• IV certification.
• Ability to read telemetry and pass competency testing on day one.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience in multiple Med-Surg specialties including Surgical, Respiratory, Wound Care, Stroke, Oncology, and Cardiac care.

Special Considerations:

• Night shift work from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM.
• Every third weekend rotation required.
• No on-call requirement.
• Strict competency testing on telemetry reading and Epic EMR proficiency; failure results in termination.

Scheduling:

• 36 hours per week, night shift schedule.
• Shifts assigned with every third weekend required.
