Tutoring opportunities are Tuesday and Thursday 10:00 am–1:45 pm from September through May. Location Gateway College Preparatory School, Georgetown, TX What is AVID? AVID is an elective class offered to high school students to help prepare them for college by teaching them study and organizational skills. Job Description Tutors will work with small groups of high school students under the supervision of an AVID teacher during the school day. Tutors serve as guides and facilitators of students through questioning, writing, thinking, and discussing. Qualifications Enrolled at a local college or university preferred. No specific content knowledge required. Attend 16 hours of AVID tutor training held by the district in the fall and spring. Pass a fingerprinting and criminal history check. Provide own transportation to tutoring site.
