Respiratory Therapist (RRT) – Adults

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Days | 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM), every other weekend

Key Responsibilities

• Provide respiratory therapy services in a high-volume ER and Level I Trauma Center environment, including Neurotrauma, cardiovascular services, and medical/surgical ICU patients
• Administer aerosol and medication delivery systems (mask, trach, MDI, Medihaler), including Albuterol, Atrovent, Combivent, inhaled Flolan, inhaled steroids, and related medications
• Perform ABG interpretation and ventilator management including BiPAP, CPAP, HFNC, flow-by, troubleshooting high-pressure alarms, and weaning from mechanical ventilation
• Manage airways including extubation, oral/nasal airway placement, suctioning, sputum collection, and tracheostomy care
• Set up and manage oxygen therapy and nebulizer equipment (handheld, T-piece, trach collar, ultrasonic); operate equipment including Servo I, Servo U, V-60 BiPAP, Optiflow, iNOvent, and LTV1200
• Float within skillset as needed; document clinical care using EPIC (required)

Required Qualifications

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential issued by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) — CRT not accepted
• Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner by the Virginia State Board of Medicine required; other state licenses accepted, but a 90-day temporary authorization must be obtained while a permanent VA license is pending
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum of 1 year of critical care experience, including experience in a high-volume ER or Level I Trauma Center setting
• EPIC charting experience required
• Must work at least one holiday per 13-week contract period
• Candidates residing within 100 miles of the facility are considered local and are not eligible for this position

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior travel therapy experience preferred (minimum 1 year)
• Familiarity with robust Assess and Treat protocols, ventilator management, and liberation policies
• Experience working with a broad patient population including adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
