Registered Veterinary Technician (Rotating Shifts) - Banning Veterinary Hospital ***Up to $3,000 Sign-On Bonus for Eligible Candidates!*** PetVet Care Centers’ Banning Veterinary Hospital is currently seeking a Registered Veterinary Technician (Rotating Shifts) . Position Overview Join our team as a Registered Veterinary Technician who supports hospital operations by providing dedicated quality veterinary care and exceptional service to patients and clients. Responsibilities include determining animal requirements, conducting examinations and diagnostic procedures, assisting during surgery and operations, providing nursing care, maintaining medical supplies and equipment, overseeing triage and discharging patients, and maintaining patient medical records. Key Responsibilities Determine animal requirements by conducting examinations and interviews, reviewing care plans and records, completing laboratory tests and studies, and diagnostic imaging. Care for patients by taking vital signs, collecting samples, administering medications and vaccines, and bandaging wounds. Support patient examinations and operations by assembling required supplies and instruments, securing patients to examination rooms, and restraining patients; assist as directed by the veterinarian. Apply full knowledge of anatomy, physiology, disease processes, pharmacology, specialized equipment usage and drug administration. Obtain and verify medications. Ensure patients have food and water, keep rooms and cages clean, and observe patients for clinical signs of disease. Fill prescriptions and administer medications, with proper documentation and security of controlled drugs. Maintain a safe, sterile environment by sterilizing and disinfecting areas, storing supplies, verifying shelf life, and following legal regulations. Document patients’ conditions and updates in the database in a timely manner. Communicate with pet owners about patient status as directed. Maintain equipment, troubleshoot breakdowns, perform preventive maintenance, and call for repairs. Manage inventory, place orders for supplies, and maintain receipts. Continue learning through educational opportunities and professional journals. Release pets to owners as directed, ensuring cleanliness and grooming. Follow oral and written directions. Perform other duties as assigned by Manager or practice. Qualifications (Required) High school diploma or GED. Experience in surgery including dentistry is a must. Equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience may be considered. Knowledge of monitoring, recovery of pets receiving surgery, and basic pet nursing. Preferred Skills Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) license with 3 years of experience. Demonstrated care and compassion, teamwork, dependability, initiative, flexibility, and communication skills.
