QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Have at least five years of experience as a licensed driver of a passenger vehicle.
REQUIRED LICENSES/SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

3. Attend to students special needs as outlined in Orting School District Driver's Handbook.
4. Handle student discipline as outlined in Orting School District Driver's Handbook.
5. Maintain current "route maps"
6. Comply with standards and expectations as outlined in Orting School District Driver's Handbook.
7. Perform other duties as required by supervisor.
BENEFITS:
For on-call positions, eligibility for benefits is determined by a number of factors, including the number of hours an employee worked during the last two (2) school years (September 1 through August 31). Some on-call positions may not be benefit eligible. Benefits are administered through the Payroll Department. Additional information is available on their district webpage. Regular employees who are not in on-call positions and are anticipated to work 630 hours or more in a year are eligible for the following benefits: medical, dental, vision, retirement, life insurance, long-term disability and the employee assistance program.
The district's healthcare benefits are administered by the Washington State Healthcare Authority (HCA) under the School Employees Benefits Board (SEBB). Benefit eligible employees also qualify to optionally participate in deferred compensation/403B plans, dependent care flexible spending/health savings accounts, and additional life insurance and/or added long-term disability coverage through employee contributions. Sick leave, vacation, personal leave, and any paid holidays are aligned with bargaining agreements by association, as listed on our website.
Other benefits include VEBA, which is a Health Reimbursement Account (HRA) and serves as a way to contribute dollars on a pre-tax basis for out of pocket benefits costs, whether it be for medical, dental or vision premiums, or any other out of pocket medical expenses. QUALIFICATIONS:
- A valid motor vehicle operator's license with class B or higher Commercial Driver Endorsement (CDL) with passenger and air brake endorsement.
- Good physical condition.
- Ability to get from the driver's seat and outside emergency door in 20 seconds or less.
- Ability to relate to students, staff and parents.
- Ability to perform duties with students on bus.
- Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
- Valid first aid and CPR certification.
- Work Skills Assessments: Achieve minimum acceptable levels/scores in reading and/or math assessments.
- Must be able to pass a DOT physical and drug screening requirements.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Have at least five years of experience as a licensed driver of a passenger vehicle.
REQUIRED LICENSES/SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to successfully complete a Washington State Patrol and a Federal Bureau of Investigation background and criminal history check pursuant to RCW View phone number on click.appcast.io.
- Meet all requirements for holding a school bus driver authorization, including a review of a five-year abstract of your driving record.
- Must be able to successfully complete a school bus driver training program facilitated by an authorized school bus driver instructor.
PERFORMANCE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Pre-trip/Post-trip functions of school vehicle as outlined in Orting School District Driver's Handbook:
- check fuel level and fill when fuel is under half tank
- check oil level, water level, wiper washer water level, wipers, tires
- check outside of vehicle for any new damage, inside for any cut seats or vandalism,
- check all lights
- check all emergency exits from both inside and out,
- mirrors for proper adjustment
- maintain clean windows, inside and out
- check fire extinguisher, first aid kit, body fluid clean up kit, and emergency triangles, to make sure everything is there, and working properly.
- At end of each route, inspect bus interior, pick up anything left, look for sleeping children.
