FHIR Interoperability Specialist - Nashville, TN/Hybrid

Overview The Tennessee Department of Health (TDH) Office of Informatics and Analytics (OIA), Core Informatics unit is recruiting a FHIR Interoperability Specialist to coordinate and support public health FHIR interoperability activities and related projects. The person in this position will work closely with other members and interoperability subject matter experts in OIA, various TDH divisions and program areas, and the state IT division, Strategic Technology Solutions (STS) to support HL7 FHIR interoperability projects. The FHIR Interoperability Specialist plays a vital role in promoting and advancing FHIR to improve interface interoperability across TDH. Role and Location FHIR Interoperability Specialist — Nashville, TN / Hybrid • 4+ Months Responsibilities Contribute significantly to strategic FHIR-specific projects. Support agency-level readiness and capacity to adopt public health FHIR solutions. Develop and support a TDH FHIR roadmap. Support HL7 FHIR interoperability projects such as HL7 Helios FHIR Accelerator focus areas (e.g., implementation support of query and response or aggregate data priority areas). Support TDH electronic data interchange (EDI) interoperability infrastructure and architecture enhancements in alignment with TDH data modernization efforts. Collaborate with interoperability subject matter experts in OIA, TDH divisions, program areas, and the state IT division (STS). Gain exposure to interoperability standards (e.g., HL7) and work on a range of informatics projects including system integration, system interoperability, EHR implementation, and public health reporting projects. Assist with emergency response situations when necessary. Some in-state and possible out-of-state travel may be required. There are opportunities for presentation and public speaking.
