ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced ICU Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The ideal candidate will provide high-quality care to critically ill adult patients, utilizing advanced nursing practices and critical thinking skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver patient-centered nursing care in the ICU setting.
• Monitor and assess patients' conditions, providing timely interventions and support.
• Administer medications and manage intravenous (IV) therapy, including titration of drips as necessary.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to create and implement patient care plans.
• Educate patients and their families about health conditions and care plans.
• Maintain a sterile and safe environment in compliance with hospital policies.
• Document and report any changes in patients' conditions accurately and promptly.
• Participate in unit meetings and continuous education initiatives.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in an intensive care environment.
• Valid RN licensure in the state of practice.
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS.
• Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to work under pressure.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Unit Information

• Unit Type: ICU (Intensive Care Unit)
• Number of Beds: 33
• Average Daily Census: 16 patients
• Nurse-Patient Ratios: 1:2-3 for adults
• Common Diagnoses: Trauma, cardiac issues, overdose/substance abuse, sepsis, stroke, renal failure, and respiratory distress.
• Support Staff: Nurse Aides and Healthcare Support Technicians are available based on census needs.
• Equipment and Technology: Proficient in using monitoring technologies; must be able to interpret telemetry readings.

Scheduling & Availability

• Shifts: 12-hour shifts, day and night shifts available.
• Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend.
• Holiday Requirements: Minimum of 2 holidays during the contract period.
• RTO (Request Time Off): Up to 7 days allowed upfront; additional requests may not be approved.

Orientation & Training

New hires will undergo a comprehensive orientation program, including one shift of unit-specific training. RNs may be required to pass an open-book skills examination during orientation.
