We are looking for a reliable, hardworking Back of House (BOH) Support Team Member to keep our kitchen running smoothly. We are looking for candidates for both dishwashing and designated prep person who can make dough, cut cheese and do basic prep work in the restaurant environment. The ideal candidate works with a sense of urgency, takes pride in a spotless workspace, and is eager to support the line cooks and culinary team during prep hours and busy service shifts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Dishwashing & Warewashing: Operate the commercial dish machine, wash large pots and pans by hand using the three-compartment sink, and maintain clean wash water and chemical levels throughout the shift.
- Organization & Restocking: Sort, stack, and return clean plates, glassware, utensils, and cookware to their designated prep stations and line storage areas.
- Basic Food Prep: Assist the kitchen crew by washing, peeling, chopping vegetables, portioning sauces/dressings, preparing chicken and veal cutlets, and labeling prep containers according to FIFO (First In, First Out) standards.
- Sanitation & Trash Removal: Empty trash cans, break down cardboard boxes, replace liners, sweep/mop kitchen and walk-in floors, and clean floor drains.
- Station Cleanliness: Wipe down prep tables, sanitize cutting boards, clean kitchen hoods, and complete daily opening/closing side-work checklists.
- Kitchen Safety: Follow all local food handling guidelines, use proper chemical dilutions, wear slip-resistant footwear, and keep walkways clear of spills and hazards.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: Prior kitchen, dishwashing, or prep experience is a plus, but we are willing to train candidates with a strong work ethic.
- Food Safety: Basic understanding of food hygiene; must have or be willing to obtain a Food Handler’s Card within 30 days of hire.
- Pace & Stamina: Ability to work on your feet for an entire 6–8 hour shift in a warm, fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Physical Demands: Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver items up to 50 lbs (such as bags of produce, dish racks, and trash bags).
- Teamwork: Positive attitude, punctuality, and open communication with chefs, cooks, and servers.
- Availability: Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays depending on business volume.
