The Facilities Supervisor – 2nd Shift provides hands-on leadership to maintenance and utility teams to ensure reliable operation of production lines, critical utilities, and facility infrastructure in a regulated pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. This role focuses on preventative and corrective maintenance, continuous improvement, and compliance with FDA, cGMP, ISO, and internal standards while maintaining a safe, efficient, and well-functioning plant during second shift operations.

• Lead, supervise, and coordinate process maintenance and utility operators on second shift to maintain strong team morale, safety, and productivity.
• Improve the performance and reliability of production lines and critical utilities through effective preventative maintenance, timely problem solving, equipment improvements, and targeted training.
• Maintain the facility and grounds at an acceptable level by managing preventative maintenance activities and responding to unscheduled work orders.
• Coordinate and schedule outside services and contractors when needed to support facility mechanics and utility operators.
• Provide consistent and reliable utilities support to the plant to ensure uninterrupted manufacturing operations.
• Actively participate in all Environmental, Health, and Safety programs and initiatives within the plant, promoting a strong safety culture.
• Ensure maintenance department productivity by implementing a maintenance excellence program, planning work, and assigning work orders to process mechanics.
• Provide maintenance support to all aspects of the manufacturing process in accordance with FDA guidelines, current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), ISO requirements, and internal operating procedures.
• Offer technical direction, effective problem solving and troubleshooting, and on-the-job training for process mechanics and maintenance staff.
• Support or lead engineering and maintenance projects as needed, including plant outages and operational improvements.
• Foster effective employee relations through coaching, mentoring, development planning, performance evaluations, and day-to-day management of direct reports.
• Provide financial oversight on the use of tools, equipment, materials, and parts, ensuring cost-effective and appropriate utilization.
• Ensure compliance with city, state, and federal regulatory requirements related to production lines, utilities, and engineering areas of responsibility.
• Maintain and oversee the plant’s CMMS or work order system by assigning work orders, monitoring progress, and closing work orders in a timely manner.
• Supervise, direct, and coordinate maintenance activities to improve the performance and reliability of facilities, utilities, and production areas during second shift.
• Oversee preventative and corrective maintenance programs to ensure all work is performed in accordance with regulatory and plant requirements.
• Develop, understand, and work within the annual maintenance budget, contributing to planning and cost control.
• Manage maintenance expertise and resources to perform and assist with plant operation and maintenance outages.
• Monitor mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation/control (I&C) maintenance work to ensure adherence to proper industrial and plant procedures and standards.
• Recommend and drive improvements in methods, equipment, operating procedures, and working conditions to enhance performance and reliability across the site.

• Minimum of 5+ years of maintenance experience in a regulated pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or medical device environment.
• Strong understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and FDA regulations relevant to pharmaceutical production.
• Working knowledge of ISO regulations and requirements in a regulated manufacturing environment.
• Significant experience with maintenance and calibration systems, including Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
• Ability to understand and troubleshoot Distributed Control Systems, with experience in Foxboro I/A System preferred.
• Ability to understand and troubleshoot Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), with experience in Allen-Bradley PLCs preferred.
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to diagnose complex mechanical, electrical, and control issues.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple maintenance activities and projects.
• Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills for interaction with cross-functional teams and documentation.
• High level of attention to detail and accuracy in maintenance records, compliance documentation, and work execution.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines under minimal supervision.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Ability to provide technical direction, training, and leadership to maintenance and utilities personnel.
• Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods in office and manufacturing environments.
• Ability to frequently access mechanical spaces, utility rooms, and production areas, including areas requiring personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally as part of routine maintenance and facility activities.
• Visual acuity sufficient to review documentation, maintenance records, and electronic data accurately.

• Engineering or technical degree, or equivalent years of experience in lieu of a degree.
• Experience maintaining and improving CMMS or work order systems, including assigning, tracking, and closing work orders.
• Experience in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment in the Research Triangle Park (RTP) region or similar regulated setting.
• Strong critical thinking abilities to assess risk, evaluate options, and implement effective solutions.
• Capacity to work with minimal supervision while maintaining high standards of compliance and performance.
• Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and develop maintenance staff to enhance team capabilities.
• Experience managing or contributing to annual maintenance budgets and cost-control initiatives.
• Ability to participate in audits and inspections, representing maintenance and facilities operations effectively.

This is an on-site role based in Raleigh within a pharmaceutical manufacturing plant. The Facilities Supervisor – 2nd Shift works in normal office conditions for planning and administrative tasks but spends significant time on the production floor, in mechanical spaces, utility rooms, and facilities/utilities areas. The environment includes exposure to typical pharmaceutical production conditions such as cleanrooms, utilities, and mechanical systems, and requires the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when accessing certain areas. The position primarily follows standard business hours aligned with second shift operations, with flexibility to support off-shift or weekend work as needed for manufacturing operations, projects, audits, or emergency responses. The role involves close collaboration with production, engineering, and quality teams in a well-established pharmaceutical organization that values safety, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement in its facilities and utilities.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Raleigh, NC.

The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $65.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Raleigh,NC.
