Transactional Tax Associate – AmLaw 100 Firm
Locations: San Francisco, Los Angeles, or Other Firm Offices
Full-Time

Direct Counsel represents an AmLaw 100 firm seeking a Transactional Tax Associate with 1–3 years of law firm experience to join its Energy & Climate Solutions Group.

The ideal candidate will have experience handling transactional tax matters involving energy tax credits under Sections 45, 45X, 45Y, 45Z, 48, and/or 48E of the Internal Revenue Code , including tax equity and tax credit transferability transactions. Transactional tax generalists with strong deal experience who are interested in specializing in energy tax matters will also be considered.

This attorney will work closely with the firm’s project finance team on complex matters involving corporate transactions, debt financing, securitization, and energy-related projects. The practice advises innovative companies across the energy sector, including renewable energy developers, emerging technology companies, and large-scale energy market participants.

Qualifications:

• 1–3 years of transactional tax experience at a law firm
• Experience with energy tax credits, tax equity, and/or tax credit transferability transactions preferred
• Strong interest in energy and climate-related tax matters
• Excellent analytical, writing, and communication skills
• Ability to manage complex matters and collaborate across practice groups
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities

Compensation & Benefits
The expected salary range for this position is $225,000–$260,000 , depending on experience and associate year level. Discretionary merit-based bonuses may also be awarded.
