The Automated Driving Teams at Qualcomm are responsible for end-to-end function development. As a Staff System Architect, you will help to shape the development of our system today and into the future. You will be responsible for understanding the needs and priorities of customers and other stakeholders of the automated driving system, performing analysis and simulation, identifying appropriate tradeoffs, deriving requirements, and documentation of the system architecture for diverse stakeholders. This position is a staff level, so you are expected to provide leadership and guidance to others within and outside the team.Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience.ORMaster's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 3+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience.ORPhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience.Preferred Qualifications:Advanced degree of engineeringExperience in Feature Development in ADAS/AD Area.Advanced System and requirement engineering skills, with proven experience in defining solutions on system and SW levels.Solid understanding of ISO26262, ISO21434, ISO21448 and their application to automated drivingExperience in SysML modeling tools like MagicDraw and Enterprise ArchitectExperience with agile methodologies in a cross-functional team is a plus.Professional experience with C++, Python, or similar programming languages is a plus.A mindset of challenging the status quo and finding creative ways to do things.Prior experience with concept-level analysis and architecture development for systems including both machine-learning and rule-based algorithmsPrincipal Duties and Responsibilities:Collaborate with stakeholders to define functional concepts for Automated Driving Functions.Work in agile teams according to SCRUM and Kanban frameworks.Support creation of new functional concepts and maintenance of existing functional concepts for driving functionsSupport decomposition of regulations to atomic requirements (e.g. R157) and analysis of requirement relevance to driving functionsEnsure clear documentation for all design decisions.Support communication and onboarding of development teams on architecture and systems engineering process, methods, and tools and their evolution over timeSupport impact analysis and review of proposed processes and process updatesSupport change request and problem report impact analysis and estimationAssist in review and categorization of stakeholder needsAssist in review and alignment of system requirements that impact multiple customer functionsLead definition and monitoring of architecture KPIsLead automation of consistency checks of system architecture as well as between system architecture artifacts (and between system and SW artifacts)Lead creation and maintenance of cross-workstream architecture artifacts as well as architectural views for diverse stakeholderLevel of Responsibility:• Works independently with minimal supervision.• Provides supervision/guidance to other team members.• Decision-making may affect work beyond immediate work group.• Requires verbal and written communication skills to convey complex information.
