Director of Accounts Payable Compensation: $160,000–$175,000 Location: Orlando, FL Candidates must be based in or within commuting distance of the Greater Orlando area. About the Opportunity A large and complex healthcare organization is seeking an experienced Director of Accounts Payable to lead its shared services Accounts Payable function. This is a highly visible leadership position with responsibility for overseeing a high-volume AP operation, developing teams, strengthening financial controls, and driving improvements that increase efficiency and scalability. The Director will work closely with senior Finance and Accounting leaders as well as cross-functional partners throughout the organization. This role is well suited for an AP professional who has successfully managed complex operations and is ready to take broader ownership of a critical finance function. Why This Role Stands Out Lead a large-scale, high-volume Accounts Payable organization Partner directly with senior Finance and Accounting leadership Manage AP operations, controls, vendor relationships, and team development Drive automation, system improvements, and process optimization Establish stronger performance measurement and operational standards Work within an established organization offering long-term career growth and internal advancement Comprehensive benefits, retirement programs, paid time off, and professional development opportunities Key Responsibilities Provide overall strategic direction and day-to-day operational leadership for Accounts Payable Oversee invoice processing, payment activities, vendor management, and other full-cycle AP functions Lead, coach, and develop AP managers, supervisors, and accounting professionals while establishing performance expectations and accountability Ensure vendor invoices and payments are processed accurately and within required timelines while maintaining effective financial controls Establish, monitor, and report on AP KPIs, service-level expectations, productivity measures, and other operational metrics Collaborate with Accounting, Finance, Treasury, Supply Chain, Procurement, and Operations to resolve issues and streamline workflowsLead automation efforts, system enhancements, and continuous improvement initiatives throughout the procure-to-pay process Review and strengthen AP policies, procedures, and internal controls while maintaining compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements Manage vendor escalations and resolve complex payment, reconciliation, and account issues Support month-end and year-end close activities, reconciliations, audits, and financial reporting requirements Identify opportunities to improve AP scalability, accuracy, productivity, and overall operational effectiveness Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field required Seven or more years of progressive Accounts Payable or shared services experience At least three years of significant leadership experience within a high-volume Accounts Payable environment Demonstrated success managing teams and complex AP operations Strong knowledge of full-cycle Accounts Payable, procure-to-pay processes, vendor management, payment operations, and internal controls Experience supporting a large, multi-entity organization strongly preferred Healthcare, shared services, or similarly complex corporate environment experience is a plus Strong experience with ERP and financial systems Proven track record of implementing process improvements, automation, and operational efficiencies Strong leadership, communication, analytical, and problem-solving abilities Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship requirements Benefits & Career Growth Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage Retirement savings programs Paid time off and company holidays Tuition assistance and professional development opportunities Strong opportunities for internal advancement High visibility with senior Finance and Accounting leadership Opportunity to lead meaningful transformation across a critical shared services function Ideal Candidate The ideal Director of Accounts Payable is an accomplished AP leader who has operated successfully within a high-volume, complex environment.
