Mobile Phlebotomist

Job Title: Phlebotomist Job Description This Phlebotomist II position focuses on performing high-quality blood draws and specimen collection while supporting smooth laboratory workflows in a fast-paced environment. The role combines hands-on phlebotomy, specimen handling, and data entry with troubleshooting, training support, and process improvement recommendations to ensure accurate, safe, and efficient laboratory operations. Responsibilities + Perform venipunctures and blood draws using straight needles and butterfly needles with a high degree of accuracy and professionalism. + Collect and store blood and other specimens, such as urine or fecal samples, in accordance with established procedures and protocols. + Clearly and courteously explain the venipuncture and specimen collection process to patients, ensuring they understand what to expect. + Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes to ensure correct patient and test identification. + Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by specific test orders and laboratory protocols. + Verify all test requisitions or computer-generated labels against the prescription or script to ensure 100% accuracy before processing. + Package specimens securely for transport, following all required procedures to maintain specimen integrity. + Store specimen samples at the appropriate temperature and place them in the correct collection containers or tubes, following protocol for each test. + Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and decontamination procedures in accordance with laboratory standards. + Update patient information in the system accurately and in a timely manner to support proper test processing and reporting. + Understand and fully interpret physicians' orders to ensure the correct tests are performed and processed. + Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations and all applicable safety and regulatory standards in the laboratory. + Attend annual department trainings to maintain current knowledge of procedures, safety requirements, and best practices. + Answer telephone calls professionally and provide laboratory results or information to satisfy appropriate inquiries. + Assist in troubleshooting issues related to specimen collection, labeling, and workflow, and make recommendations to improve processes. + Support training efforts by demonstrating proper phlebotomy techniques and workflow procedures to colleagues as needed.
