Inpatient Pediatric Physical Therapist

Inpatient Pediatric Physical Therapist This position is responsible for screening, testing, evaluating, diagnosing, and treating injuries, diseases, and disabilities using physical therapy procedures and modalities in accordance with standard physical therapy practices. The role includes consulting, educating, and training patients, families, and caregivers, and collaborating with care teams and stakeholders to deliver quality, patient‑centered care. Schedule: Three (3) 10‑hour shifts per week on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, with rotating Saturday and holiday coverage and occasional additional coverage for other physical therapists as needed. A flexible and collaborative mindset is essential to support continuity of care within the inpatient pediatric setting. Essential Functions Promotes the mission, vision, and values of Intermountain Health and abides by service standards. Provides skilled physical therapy services, staying updated on standard practices for different patient groups. Conducts evaluations and treatments according to professional standards (APTA), considering diagnosis, history, and physician referrals, and develops care plans with specific goals based on patient assessments. Meets established productivity standards for the department or service line. Maintains thorough and timely patient records and completes patient billing accurately and promptly. Communicates effectively with patients, families, physicians, and healthcare providers about patient needs and goals. Manages all aspects of patient care and education, including supervising assistants, aides, office staff, and students to ensure high‑quality care. Participates in and promotes continuing education opportunities for self and staff, seeking new learning opportunities according to licensure requirements. Engages in quality improvement processes, including safe equipment use, improving clinical outcomes, patient access, and patient experience. Participates in patient care conferences, interdisciplinary meetings, staff meetings, and necessary professional work groups in collaboration with the leader. Contributes to program development and marketing strategies to grow the physical therapy program and achieve department goals. Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers. Basic computer skills. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. Experience with the target population of the job setting. Current driver’s license, reliable transportation, and acceptable driving record. Physical Requirements Ongoing need to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, and operate monitors. Frequent verbal and auditory communication with patients, providers, and visitors, especially during emergency situations. Manual dexterity to manipulate complex and delicate equipment, with frequent computer use and typing. Ability to lift, bend, and carry supplies and equipment ranging up to heavy items. Capacity to walk, assist with transporting/ambulating patients, and navigate crowded, busy rooms. Possible standing in a stationary position for extended periods. Location Primary Children's at Lehi, Utah. Schedule Weekly hours: 30. Compensation Hourly rate: $42.66 – $65.82 (actual rate dependent upon experience).
