Perioperative Clinical Purchasing Coordinator

: POSITION SUMMERY: Responsible for ordering, receiving and maintaining OR supplies, inventory and equipment. Maintains accurate PAR and stock levels to support clinical staff and surgical case requirements. Uses ERP/MMIS system to facilitate an effective and appropriate flow of inventory to minimize waste and support a dynamic case load. REPORTS TO: DIRECTOR OF MATERIALS INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL STAKEHOLDERS: Patient surgical cases Physicians/Surgeons Perioperative staff for the OR, Same Day Surgery, PACU, Endoscopy and Anesthesia Accounts Payable Hospital Purchasing Supervisor Vendor Representatives Materials Staff SUPERVISES: Perioperative Services Supply Clerk essential job functions:
  • Supervise and takes ownership of the daily supply needs of the department. Facilitates the coordination of all staff members involved with purchasing, selling, and distributing equipment, supplies, inventory and services for perioperative services
  • Proactively monitors and procures specialty items and implants for all surgical cases
  • Places daily orders and insures the fulfillment of all supplies and services
  • Strives to be GPO contract compliant at all times
  • Maintains and updates established inventory par levels
  • Monitors item usage rates and communicates data to clinical staff for evaluation
  • Keeps physical supply locations neat, orderly, and in compliance with CMS guidelines
  • Conducts monthly process to eliminate product expirations
  • Communicates in a professional manner with surgical staff, scheduler, materials management, surgery management, vendors, and surgeons
  • Urgently notifies appropriate personnel concerning item backorders or other product issues
  • Serves as the point of contact for surgical sales representatives. Communicates company vendor relationship policy to new vendors and monitors compliance
  • Serves as a resource in researching new products and equipment for the operating room
  • Responsible for reconciling implant sheets, implant set replacements and implant charge sheets to insure proper patient billing and implant replacement
  • Work closely with Materials Management to coordinate repairs, returns, and inventory issues
  • Oversees physical inventory counts as required by organization
  • Attends and actively participates in required staff meetings.
  • Reports directly to Director of Materials
  • Acts as an ambassador for the Department, treating all internal/external contacts with respect and courtesy
  • Displays positive thinking and a “Can do” attitude
  • Strives to consistently meet and exceed internal customer expectations
  • Completes other related projects as assigned

Requirements :

High School diploma or equivalent - associates degree preferred

Strong organizational skills

Ability to prioritize patient and clinical case needs

Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills

Ability to promote excellent customer service

Ability to work collaboratively with others

Computer, data entry and basic spreadsheet skills required

Minimum 2 years' experience in hospital supply, materials management or surgical

environment preferred

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Exposure to blood and body fluids, communicable diseases, chemicals, radiation, and repetitive motions PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to lift, push and pull 50 lbs.
