Food Service Lead

Location: Central Elementary School

Schedule: Mon-Fri 7:30 am - 1:45 pm (6.25 hours per day)

Qualifications and Duties

Including, but not limited to the following:

• Be a collaborative team member with a strong work ethic
• Must be positive, optimistic and a problem solver
• Experience working in an institutional kitchen setting with proven organizational skills and ability to multi-task
• Follows operational procedures for efficient and effective food production and service
• Provides an environment conducive to protecting the health and well being of the school's children through high levels of food safety and sanitation standards
• Demonstrated ability to interpret detailed written instructions such as schedules and recipes
• An interest and positive attitude in providing service to school age students and adult staff by using a caring approach
• Excellent attendance history is desired
• Strong computer skills are necessary in order to use of Point of Sale (POS) system
• Maintains integrity and accountability of the school nutrition program through compliance with federal, state and local regulations
• Prepare and place food, milk and supply orders with District vendors
• Assist with the receiving and stocking of food deliveries
• Maintain a safe facility for performance of work
• Oversee the District Breakfast in the Classroom program
• Have a Serve-Safe (or similar) certificate or obtain certification within 3 months of employment
• Complete 6-10 hours of annual continuing education/training, per Federal Regulations
• Other duties as assigned

Work Location Requirement

This position is an in-person role and requires regular, on-site attendance at the assigned work location. The essential functions of this position cannot be performed remotely.

This position requires the ability to:

• Stand, walk, and move throughout the school day across classrooms and intervention spaces
• Sit, bend, kneel, or work at student level during small group or individual instruction
• Use hands and arms to operate instructional materials, technology, and assessment tools
• Communicate effectively with students, staff, and families

The work environment may include:

• Providing instruction in a variety of settings, including classrooms and small group intervention spaces
• Frequent transitions and movement between instructional groups
• Moderate to occasionally high noise levels

This role also requires:

• Supporting students with a range of academic needs, including students who may require redirection or support with engagement
• Implementing instructional strategies and interventions with consistency and fidelity
• Monitoring and responding to student needs in real time during instruction
• The ability to collaborate with classroom teachers and intervention teams to support student progress.

The employee will occasionally lift and/or move instructional materials and equipment (up to 25 pounds).
