Licensed Specialist in School Psychology

Primary Purpose

Provide psychological services for the District including: psychological assessment, behavioral consultation and counseling to District students.

Qualifications

Minimum Education/Certification

Eligibility for license or currently licensed as a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology by Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists

Special Knowledge/Skills

Acquire and apply knowledge of current research and theory to educational and behavioral needs of students Demonstrate ability to conduct staff parent and staff training groups and develop and implement behavior intervention programs for students with severe behavioral needs

Minimum Experience

One year or experience providing direct service delivery to children, adolescents, and families in school settings

Major Responsibilities and Duties

1. Provide psychological assessment of students to address presence of emotional disturbance, Autism and OHI (ADHD) to and to make recommendations for educational programming.

2. Participate in provision of counseling as related service to students identified as requiring such support to make educational progress.

3. Provide Parent Training as a related service to individual parents of students with Autism Spectrum Disorders.

4. Provide counseling as a related service evaluation.

5. Provide Functional behavior Assessments for students with behavioral challenges.

6. Provide consultation services to parents of students with disabilities.

7. Provide consultation to District administrators, assessment personnel and instructional staff as needed to address behavioral and educational needs of identified students.

8. Provide direct services to students and campus/District staff as needed in crisis situations.

9. Provide behavioral and educational recommendations based on psychological assessment, to be addressed by the ARD committee during the development of students' IEPs.

10. Provide staff development concerning behavioral needs of students at District or campus level as requested.

11. Provide 504 evaluations for students who may be identified with a disability under Section 504.

12. Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations and Board policy.

13. Submit appropriate documentation to Medicaid for eligible services provided through SHARS.

14. Take necessary precautions to protect student confidentiality.

15. Maintain and submit accurate and complete records as required by law, District policy and administrative regulations.

16. Participate as a member of campus student intervention teams, Admission Review and Dismissal Committees and/or 504 Committee meetings as requested by campus/District staff.

17. Perform all other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Participate in supervision of university practicum students, interns and LSSP trainees
