KNOWLEDGE AND EDUCATION:Required:Valid Iowa Teaching License or Substitute LicensureKnowledge of effective teaching practicesDesired:Previous experience as a substitute teacher or classroom teacherSKILLS AND JOB FUNCTIONS:Demonstrated Experience or is Willing to Acquire the Following Skills:Exhibits essential dispositions and ownership of the district mission of "We will empower a community of lifelong learners who strive for personal excellence through meaningful relationships and real world, authentic learning experiences."Exhibits essential dispositions and ownership of the districts core values;Excellence - high expectations for all in everything we doInnovation - in our approach to problem solving and learningPride - in self, others, school, and communityRelationships - amongst all stakeholders as foundational to our success.Sense of Belonging - where all students, staff, and community members feel valued and connected.Exhibits essential dispositions necessary to build positive working relationships with administration, colleagues, parents, students and the Winterset community.Ability to Affirm and Encourage OthersAbility to Grow GroupsSelf-ControlSocial SkillsSelf- motivatedOptimisticAbility to Demonstrate Genuine CaringExhibits effective communication skillsDemonstrates the ability to be self-directed and problem solveDemonstrates enthusiasm towards learning and continuous growth as an educator and individual.Demonstrates a positive attitude towards others and as an educator.Demonstrates self-efficacy in that their actions empower others to learn.Demonstrates confidentiality as needed and required.Seeks out opportunities to improve professional competence through professional development.Identifies individually and collaboratively areas for growth and seeks out opportunities to grow in these areas.Complies with all Winterset Community School District Board Policies, Handbook Policies, and Contractual Responsibilities.INSTRUCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:Provides direct instruction to students in individual, small group, and/or full classroom settings.Uses identified student needs to guide the learning process toward student achievement of district's core content standards.Establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects using formal and informal assessment data aligned to the Iowa Core and Winterset standards.Uses a variety of instructional strategies and materials consistent with core content standards and the needs/capabilities of individual students.Creates a classroom environment that is aligned to research-based instruction and conducive to learning as well as appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students.Plans, implements, and evaluates learning in accordance with established district curriculum expectations.CLASSROOM RESPONSIBILITIES:Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, administrative guidelines, or specific program requirements.Conducts student assessments to identify individual student needs to plan instruction, and/or to determine intervention strategies.Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides frequent progress reports to parents and students (if applicable).Collaborates with appropriate building and district personnel regarding student needs.Follows the social contract with students within each class they teach that follows the principles of Capturing Kids Hearts.Communicates and Maintains reasonable expectations of classroom behavior and procedure and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.Contacts parents as neededregarding student improvement and conducts conferences.Implements all district policies and expected practices.PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:Adheres to the Iowa Teaching Standards.Demonstrates positive interpersonal relationships and works cooperatively with students, parents and colleagues.Meets deadlines, is punctual and completes assigned tasks with minimal assistance.Participates in discussion or activities focused on using research to improve teaching and learning.Takes an active interest in the school and community. Attends meetings and serves on staff/district committees.Other duties as assigned by the principal.Terms of Employment: Salary and work year to be established in accordance with provisions of the Comprehensive Agreement.Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Comprehensive Agreement.Physical Requirements: Bending, carrying, climbing, travel between job sites, lifting, pushing-pulling, reaching, sitting, standing, and walkingWorking Conditions: Includes extremes of temperature and humidity.
