R&D Design Engineer

Insight Global is looking to hire an R&D Design Engineer to join one of their large manufacturing clients at their facility in Hayward, MN. This is a permanent role, with 50% travel required, both locally and domestically. In this role, you'll responsible for supporting electrical and controls engineering projects that support automation, equipment upgrades, capacity expansion, and new product initiatives across manufacturing operations. On a day-to-day basis, you'll work with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and implement production equipment and control systems, while managing project timelines, contractors, and technical resources. You would partner closely with plant teams to ensure successful equipment startup and handoff, provide training and documentation, and oversee technicians while driving continuous improvement efforts. This role offers a salary range between $86,575 to $144,375 per year, along with a bonus target incentive. The role offers a strong benefits program, including pension plans, the target incentive, 401k match, paid college tuition for both employees and employee dependents.

Skills and Requirements

• Experience in a Maintenance Engineer, Staff Engineer, Industrial Engineer, Project Engineer, or similar engineering role (3-5 years)
• Strong experience in Rockwell Automation and AutoCad
• Strong ability to collaborate in a team environment and be involved in capital project management
• Previous project management experience - Bachelor's degree in related field
• 5 years experience as a Maintenance Engineer, Staff Engineer, Industrial Engineer, Project Engineer
• Previous food manufacturing experience
