Patient Care Technician

Job Summary The Patient Care Technician performs tasks supportive to delivery of patient care in assigned departments under the direction of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse. Required Qualifications - Require one of the following:
1.) Florida licensure as Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or Paramedic, or a military Hospital Corpsman, Combat Medic Specialist, or Aerospace Medical Service Specialist; or National licensure as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT); which must be maintained active during employment; or
2.) Nursing students who are eligible for CNA exam are required to: a.) currently be enrolled in or a graduate of an accredited school of Nursing (RN/LPN); b.) if enrolled, have completed the first semester of clinical for ASN/BSN degree or completion of first trimester for LPN; and c.) cannot be currently licensed in the U.S. as a RN or LPN; or
3.) Patient Care Technician (PCT) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Certification: Provide certification of successful completion of a Florida State Board approved program and successfully obtain a Florida CNA license within 120 days of graduation. **Employees hired without the above licensure and/or by years of experience only prior to 11/11/19, are grandfathered in and will have the option of obtaining the stipulated licensure. Preferred Qualifications - Prefer working knowledge of commonly used computer applications. Mandatory Education HS EQ: High School Diploma, GED or Certificate Preferred Education Required License and Certs BLS: Basic Life Support/CPR Preferred License and Certs Employment Screening Requirements As part of Sarasota Memorial Health Care System's commitment to keeping people safe, all individuals providing care to vulnerable populations are required to undergo background screening through The Florida Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse.
