CMM Programmer

Job SummaryOperates and programs the Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) for inspection of product. Gathers, analyzes, and reports custom written programs to generate inspection data for manufacturing, engineering, and quality. Performs all dimensional layouts using coordinate measuring equipment and prepares layout reports.Impact of the RoleGeneral ProfileRequires in-depth conceptual and practical knowledge in own job discipline and basic knowledge of related job disciplinesSolves complex problemsWorks independently, receives minimal guidanceMay lead projects or project steps within a broader project or may have accountability for on-going activities or objectivesActs as a resource for colleagues with less experienceConsistent exercise of discretion & judgmentEssential FunctionsCreates inspection programs for the Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM).Gathers, analyzes, and reports custom written programs to generate inspection data for manufacturing, engineering, and quality.Interprets blueprints and analyzes the measurements that the machine outputs.May lead CMM training with other technicians or operators.Troubleshoots, fixes and reports non-conforming materials as needed.Required QualificationsRequired education and experience: Associate's Degree and 5-7 years' experience OR Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education &/or ExperienceCritical professional related technical skills; computer skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)Preferred QualificationsPreferred education and experience: Bachelor's DegreeKnowledge, skills & abilities: Machine Programming. Manufacturing Quality Inspection. Reading Blueprints/Diagrams.Physical RequirementsMust be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds.May need to stand for long periods of time.Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery.This position is Safety Sensitive.May be requested to work a different shift.Travel RequirementsLess than 25% travel likely.The above statements describe the general nature and level of work only.
