Cost Accountant

We are a diverse, privately held global food and agriculture company headquartered in Boise, Idaho. Summary This role performs both Financial Accounting and Cost Accounting activities within the Global Agriculture Controllership team. Under limited supervision, this role supports multiple business operations through a combination of inventory accounting, inventory valuation, reconciliations, journal entry preparation, and financial analysis. Responsibilities include monitoring and analyzing physical inventory transactions, maintaining accurate financial records across multiple ERP systems, supporting month‑end close activities, and partnering with operational and finance teams to ensure financial accuracy and compliance. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain exposure to diverse accounting functions while contributing to the implementation of a new ERP system and other process improvement initiatives. Key Responsibilities Detailed monthly review of assigned business activities and financial results Monitor controls over inventory costing and coordinate resolution of identified variances Support physical inventory processes, including inventory valuation, reconciliation, and reporting activities Provide financial and cost accounting support across multiple business operations Complete account reconciliations and investigate variances to ensure financial accuracy Complete accounting activities associated with the month‑end close process Perform ad hoc financial, inventory, and operational analysis as required Work closely with business operations, FP&A, and other finance professionals to resolve accounting and costing issues Navigate multiple ERP systems to complete financial, inventory, and costing activities Assist with ERP implementation initiatives, including testing, validation, process documentation, and user support Identify opportunities for process improvements and increased efficiency within accounting and costing workflows Maintain strong attention to detail while managing large data sets and financial information in Excel Typical Education Bachelor’s Degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Accounting from 4 year college or university 1-3+ years related experience and/or training Basic understanding of accounting fundamentals and principles Experience with JDE, Agvance, Power BI, Axiom or SAP preferred Job Requisition ID :26583 Travel Required :None Country :United States The Simplot Company is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer and will consider all qualified applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, ancestry, age, sex, gender, gender identity, gender expression, genetic information, physical or mental disability, medical condition, sexual orientation, military or veteran status, marital status, or any other protected status. #J-18808-Ljbffr
