Renovation CarpenterWe are currently searching for a Renovation Carpenter to join our Champaign-Urbana Region Construction/Renovation Team within our Project Management Department. The ideal candidate will embody Fairlawn's core values: Be Kind, Own It, Be Flexible, and Always Improve.The overall objectives for this role will be to handle carpentry and remodeling duties across a wide range of property types while providing top-notch customer service. The ideal candidate will have superior attention to detail and the ability to directly handle a wide range of construction activities.What Will You Do?Exemplify the core values of Be Kind, Be Flexible, Own It, and Always ImprovePerform a range of carpentry tasks, including framing walls, setting doors, cutting and installing trim, and installing hardwareWork independently and as part of a team to complete full residence remodelsPerform a wide range of repairs, including appliances and minor roofing repairs, and recommend outsourcing work to external vendors when necessaryPerform painting, drywall, plaster, and light masonry work, as well as repairs to plumbing fixtures and woodworkInstall electrical and plumbing fixtures as needed to complete renovationsAssist the Carpenter Lead with overseeing daily job site operations and subcontractorsComplete demolition work, including removing drywall, framing, debris, and other existing materials as needed for renovationsSafely use hand and power tools while ensuring tools and equipment are properly maintainedParticipate in residence turnover, including directly assisting with turning units within short timeframesMaintain good rapport with current and prospective residentsFollow company policies and obtain necessary approvals for large maintenance and carpentry tasks or expendituresComplete carpentry work in a timely manner and accurately document time, expenses, and resultsRegularly assess properties for safety concerns and preventative maintenance opportunitiesComply with all OSHA regulations and applicable health, safety, and environmental lawsLearn and ensure compliance with all Fair Housing laws, including local, state, and federal housing regulations (we provide training)Pivot, roll up your sleeves, and jump in where needed!Why Should You Work Here?Competitive PayMedical, Dental, Vision, and Life InsuranceEmployee sponsored benefits including Short Term Disability, Life Insurance, Critical Illness, Accident, Flexible Spending, and H.S.A.
