Market Intelligence Analyst

Our client is a respected non-profit organization founded in 1876, committed to advancing scientific knowledge and fostering a global community through chemistry. They are seeking a Market Intelligence Analyst to work within their Research & Innovation department supporting strategic decision-making with market intelligence, strategic insights, and data visualization. This is a full-time contract position paying $45 - $50 per hour. This is a full-time hybrid, contract position based in Washington, DC. Responsibilities Conduct ongoing environmental scanning to identify emerging trends, opportunities, risks, and disruptions affecting ACS stakeholders, members, and customers. Monitor and assess competitor and peer organizations, including professional societies, publishers, educational organizations, scientific institutions, and adjacent industries. Produce competitive intelligence reports, benchmarking analyses, market landscape assessments, and trend briefs. Design and execute qualitative and quantitative research studies, including interviews, surveys, and focus groups. Develop research plans, discussion guides, questionnaires, and analytical frameworks. synthesize findings from diverse data sources into actionable insights and strategic recommendations. Create and maintain dashboards for ongoing monitoring of key market, customer, and competitive indicators using tools such as Power BI or Tableau. Present research findings and insights to senior leadership and cross-functional teams through reports, presentations, and executive briefings. Qualifications Demonstrated expertise in mixed-methods research, combining qualitative and quantitative approaches to answer strategic business questions. 8+ years of experience in market research, market intelligence, competitive analysis, or management consulting. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex datasets and synthesize information into clear business implications. Experience designing and conducting primary and secondary research. Proficiency in data visualization and dashboard development using Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms. Familiarity with analytics tools such as SQL, R, Python, or Qualtrics is preferred. Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills, especially in presenting to executive audiences. Ability to independently manage multiple projects and prioritize demanding timelines.
