Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical Surgical/Neuro night shift position in Nashville, TN, requiring a TN or compact RN license and at least 2 years of Med/Surg experience.

Details

• Located on the 3rd Floor Medical Surgical/Neuro unit of an acute care hospital in Nashville, TN
• 20-bed unit with a 6:1 patient-to-nurse ratio
• Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, three 12-hour shifts per week
• Two weekends (4 shifts) required per 4-week schedule
• Tech support available on both day and night shifts; unit secretary available 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
• Equipment used includes IV pumps, telemetry monitors, SCDs, continuous pulse oximetry machines, feeding pumps, PCAs, EKG machines, bladder scanners, and iMobile communication technology
• Charting is done in Meditech
• Contract travelers are first to float, with rotation applied when multiple contract staff are scheduled
• 13-week assignment

Requirements

• Active RN license — Tennessee or compact license required
• Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start)
• Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg nursing experience required
• Proficiency in IV starts, basic wound care, surgical drain maintenance, nasogastric tube management, and chest tube care
• Ability to prioritize care and multitask in a fast-paced environment
• US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
• One professional reference required
• No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months

Additional Information

• The facility is an ACS Verified Level II Trauma Center, Comprehensive Stroke Center, and Certified Chest Pain Center
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
• Navy scrubs (tops and bottoms) are required
• Bedside shift report is expected, with an emphasis on patient- and family-centered care and individualized plan of care communication
