Description DEAN OF STUDENT LIFE Position Description: The Dean of Student Life is a key member of the Northwest Catholic High School's administrative team providing leadership and direction to all programs impacting student life, discipline, and co-curricular activities. The Dean works with the Principal and President to foster a vibrant, inclusive, and Christ-centered environment rooted in the Northwest Catholic mission, treating members of the school campus with fairness, dignity, and respect, seeking a spirit of unity and harmony to achieve a common mission. Utilizing the graduate profile, this role bridges the gap between academic rigor and personal growth. The Dean of Student Life collaborates with the administration, staff, faculty, parents, and students to set priorities for student formation.
Duties & Responsibilities: Collaborate with the administrative team to develop and implement annual strategic goals and school-wide improvements. Oversee the student code of conduct with a focus on restorative justice and personal accountability to maintain a harmonious and mission-aligned school environment. Manage day-to-day student life, including attendance, dress code compliance, and conduct in common areas (lunchroom, hallways, and campus transit). Coordinate school-wide events, assemblies, and traditions in partnership with the Principal to build a strong sense of community. Collaborate with the Principal and Director of Student Services on matters of student formation, discipline, and intervention of students. Oversee the review, editing and publication of the Student Handbook. Maintain accurate records of student infractions and professional growth plans, ensuring a data-driven approach. Supervise and mentor faculty advisors for student clubs, organizations, and the Student Council. Support faculty in progressive and restorative classroom management, formation of students and discipline. Partner closely with the School Counseling Department, Campus Ministry, and Athletics to support the social-emotional and spiritual well-being of the student body. As a member of the emergency crisis team, manage security procedures, including drills, emergency protocols, and compliance recordkeeping. Contribute to the evaluation and professional development of teachers as part of the administrative team. Direct the master calendar of student events in coordination with the Principal and President during the school year. Participate in weekly administration meetings and represent the school leadership at games, dances, and co-curricular events as needed. Teach up to two courses assigned by the Principal. Serve as administrative leader in the absence of the Principal and President. Treat members of the school campus with fairness, dignity, and respect, seeking a spirit of unity and harmony to achieve a common mission. Other duties as assigned by the President. Requirements Desired Qualifications: At least 5 years of full-time teaching experience in a secondary school. A Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree preferred.
A practicing Catholic. Strong written and spoken communication skills. A demonstrated emotional intelligence in working with adolescence and families. Experience in conflict resolution and intervention. Certification in an academic content area or equivalent course work. This is a full-time, ten month, administrative position.
