• Job Title: Gastroenterologist • Job Type: Locum Tenens • Location: Richmond, IN • Service Setting: Inpatient • Coverage Type: Clinical + Call • Coverage Period: March 30, 2026 - June 29, 2026 (3 separate weeks of coverage) • Clinical Shift Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00a - 7:00a (8 hours regular + night call) • On-Call Shift Schedule: 24-hour call on weekends with 2 gratis per 24 hours • Call Type: In-House • Call Ratio: 1:1 COVERAGE DATES • March 30, 2026 - April 6, 2026 • May 4, 2026 - May 11, 2026 • June 22, 2026 - June 29, 2026 PATIENT INFORMATION • Patient Demographics: Adults • Patient Volume/Census: Variable, inpatient and procedural cases • Admissions: Yes, inpatient gastroenterology service • Rounding: Included • Phone Consults: Yes • Case Mix: General Gastroenterology - diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for diseases of the esophagus, stomach, intestines, pancreas, gallbladder, bile ducts, and liver FACILITY INFORMATION • No. of Beds in Department: 220+ total hospital beds • Trauma Level: Level III Trauma Center • EMR System: Epic • Office Equipment Available: Standard endoscopy suite • Specialty Backup Available: Anesthesia available based on OR availability • Support Staff Available: RNs, APPs, and anesthesia team (when available) • Reason for Coverage: Growth PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE • Hospital Privileges Required: Yes • Temporary Privileges Available: No • Credentialing Timeline: 60-90 days • Orientation: In-person orientation required (7:30a-5:00p) Friday prior to start or within 2 weeks before start date COMPENSATION & BENEFITS • Rate: 8 hours regular daily pay + night call (0 gratis on weekdays; 2 gratis per 24-hour call on weekends) • Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance: Covered REQUIRED PROCEDURES • Upper GI Endoscopy (Mandatory) • Lower GI Endoscopy (Mandatory) • Sigmoidoscopy (Mandatory) • Colonoscopy (Mandatory) • Esophageal Dilatation (Mandatory) • Esophageal Manometry (Mandatory) • Biopsy during Endoscopy/Colonoscopy (Mandatory) • ERCP - Not Applicable • Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) - Not Applicable JOB REQUIREMENTS • Licenses: Active Indiana license or IMLC • Board: Board Certified or Board Eligible (within 5 years of residency) • DEA: Active DEA Certification required • Certifications: BLS (AHA issued), ACLS (AHA issued) • Experience: Minimum 2 years post-residency experience preferred • Other Qualifications: Must enter orders in Epic; order entry and timekeeping via Vemsta platform; flu and COVID vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions accepted) DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic gastroenterology procedures as listed above • Manage inpatient GI consults, rounding, and treatment plans • Provide 24-hour on-call coverage for assigned dates • Enter clinical orders and maintain accurate documentation in Epic EMR • Collaborate with hospital staff and support teams to ensure quality patient care • Attend mandatory in-person orientation before assignment start
