Job Description:

The Registered Nurse in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) provides specialized care for patients with severe and potentially life-threatening conditions. This role requires critical thinking, acute assessment skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities:

• Administer and monitor specialized medical treatments such as medication titration and invasive line monitoring.
• Interpret cardiac rhythms and respond to emergency situations.
• Collaborate with medical staff to plan and implement patient care.
• Participate in unit orientation and competency assessments.

Requirements:

• BLS, ACLS, NIHSS certifications required.
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience; travel experience preferred.
• Proficiency in EPIC charting system and BD Alaris IV Pumps.
• Strong skills in proning, chest tubes, and hypothermia protocols.

Unit Description: General Information Beds: 39 – MICU, SICU, CICU, TICU – mixed unit Minimal Experience: 2 years of ICU experience EXCLUDING travel experience is most preferred If they have 1.5 years of ICU experience EXCLUDING travel, please have CRT send to management team for approval Will you accept a first-time traveler? No. Minimum one prior travel assignment Traveler must reside >100 miles outside of facility Permanent staff must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler Patient Types: Complex ICU patients ranging from surgical, medical, cardiac (preferred), neuro and trauma Diagnoses include: ARDS, MI, CVA/TIA, COVID, s/p cardiac cath, post-surgical, multiple system trauma – heavy trauma population Cardiac experience is preferred (not required): CABG/TAVR – 24 to 48 hrs post op experience is preferred but not required for travelers Will not take fresh open hearts unless they are experienced, and the facility felt comfortable with this – given to permanent staff Patient Ratios: RN: 1:1, 2:1, 3:1
