Work Details Work Shift: Day (United States of America) Location: 203 Woodpark Place, Woodstock 30188 Shift/Schedule: Mon-Thurs 7:45a-4:45p and Fri 7:45a-1:45p Job Summary The Medical Assistant functions under the direction of the Physician, Clinical Lead, Clinical Nurse Supervisor, Nurse Supervisor and/or Office Manager. Recognizes patients needs and symptoms in advance. Provides care for the patient under the physicians direction. Includes preparing patient for exams, assisting during treatments, coordinating tests and follow-up care and recording treatment in the medical record. Assists with explaining patient instructions to the patient/family. Demonstrates competency and skills to serve patients of all ages including neonate, infant, child, adolescent, adult and geriatric populations. Performs other duties as necessary related to front office registration, laboratory testing, and radiology functions within a specialty setting. Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions Clinical and Non-Clinical Duties and Expectations Register patient upon entrance to facility Perform all necessary registration operations Prepare equipment and rooms and aid physician with treatment of patients Perform vitals and other duties to prep patients Rotate among various clinical and non-clinical service areas such as lab, x-ray, and front office Address main safety needs of the patient Diagnostic Imaging Duties and Expectations Perform radiographic and other diagnostic imaging procedures to assist clinical team and physicians in treatment of the patients Prepare and position patients for imaging procedures, ensuring proper techniques including radiation protection Obtain optimum views as ordered by the physician Process images and review for proper identification and quality control Cross train other team members Laboratory Duties and Expectations Start lab equipment daily and maintain daily logs and documentation Perform laboratory tests according to orders and instructions Draw blood samples from patients and perform Point of Care testing Order and stock supplies weekly Perform daily quality control and cleaning procedures according to guidelines Cross train other team members Patient Liaison Provide relationship-based patient-centered care that reflects population-specific characteristics and cultural diversity Partner with the patient and significant others and/or family using appropriate methods to set and explain goals of care Promote current clinical practice standards and a respectful, inclusive environment Team Work and Collaboration Coordinate delivery and documentation of safe, high-quality patient care with interdisciplinary communication Demonstrate teamwork and collaboration while practicing in a fiscally responsible manner Professional Development and Initiative Complete initial and ongoing professional competency assessments and mandatory education May serve as a preceptor for onboarding Medical Assistants/students Evidence Based Practice and Research Promote evidence-based practice in safe, quality patient care Participate in activities such as value analysis as part of evaluating patient care products Resources and Support Plan for patient care across the care continuum and support efficient use of resources Develop protocols in collaboration with care managers to achieve best practice outcomes Education and Certification Requirements Required Minimum Education: High school diploma or equivalent Graduate from an Accredited Medical Assistant Program preferred Licenses and Certifications: Medical Assistant certification (AAMA, AMT, NHA, or NCCT) required; Basic Life Support (BLS) required; BLS Instructor or Provisional credentials may be required OSHA radiology training within sixty days of hire Credentialing body examination with current Medical Assistant credential required on hire Experience Prior work experience in a practice setting preferred Radiology experience preferred; preparation for training within sixty days if not already experienced Phlebotomy certification preferred or training within sixty days Note: This description reflects essential job responsibilities and qualifications for the role and is not a contract.
