Job Details Job Location: TEXARKANA, TX 75503 Position Type: Part Time Salary Range: $25.00 - $29.00 Hourly Job Shift: Day/Night Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse and in consultation with the Emergency Room Physician, the Licensed Vocational Nurse provides professional standard nursing services. As a patient advocate, the LVN will also provide physical and psycho‑social support to patients and families. The LVN provides backup for the Registered Nurse as needed. The LVN organizes, modifies, evaluates, documents, and maintains the plan of care for Emergency Department patients. Qualifications Document patient’s current medication list including name, dosage, frequency, duration, and start date. Administer medication and treatment as prescribed through written provider orders, and document procedures in the chart. Accountable for own errors in medication administration, subject to established disciplinary measures. Perform EKGs. Perform laboratory procedures from specimen collections as authorized by the Director of Nursing/Medical Director. Attend staff meetings and participate in quality improvement projects. Assist nursing leaders in developing policies and protocols for patient care. Provide excellent customer service skills and anticipate patient needs. Accurately reassess patients and document findings. Identify and prioritize patient needs and accomplish them in an organized, timely manner. Collaborate with physicians to provide an appropriate plan of care. Maintain flexibility in performing duties to adapt to changes in patient volume. Maintain positive, professional relationships with other nursing units and ancillary staff. Perform laboratory point‑of‑care testing and all CLIA waived testing approved by the Laboratory Director. Follow up on all send‑out lab specimens with accurate documentation and physician notification. Document accurately on the perpetual narcotic inventory form and report discrepancies to the Nurse Manager. Perform daily lab and equipment checks for quality assurance. Perform follow‑up phone calls. Maintain the facility in clean working order in accordance with OSHA and report any equipment failure to the Nurse Manager. Maintain patient confidentiality and document accurately in the patient chart. Delegate appropriately to the Radiology Technician, Registration Clerk, and EMT‑Paramedic. Monitor supply each shift and report shortages. Review company emails throughout each shift (primary means of communication). Accurately document any incidents and report to the Nurse Manager and physician on duty. Use biohazard containers correctly; empty sharps containers in a timely and safe manner. May be required to work holidays and weekends as needed. Performance Expectations Demonstrate ability to perform specific competencies as listed on the competency validation checklist(s). Demonstrate age‑specific knowledge of human growth and development, assessment, range of treatment, and care of patients. Ensure the privacy of patients and the confidentiality of their Protected Health Information (PHI). Meet mutually agreed‑upon performance goals/objectives. Utilize the nursing process for individual care to meet the needs of patients. Demonstrate ability to perform technical skills and procedures. Document all patient care. Demonstrate critical thinking skills. Promote and exhibit teamwork. Complete mandatory education. Comply with policies, procedures and patient safety initiatives. Required Licensure and Experience Licensed Vocational Nurse with a current Texas license. Minimum of 1 year emergency room experience (preferred). Current BLS qualification. ACLS and PALS preferred. Strong oral and written communication skills. Flexible and service‑oriented. Problem‑solving abilities with quick intervention and awareness of changing conditions. Working Conditions Perform duties in a fast‑paced emergency room. Lifting and/or moving using proper body mechanics; ask for assistance if required.
