Manual Machinist

We’re Hiring! Manual Machinist – Freeport (Shop) Universal Plant Services is seeking an experienced Manual Machinist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the setting up, operating, and maintenance of a variety of manual machine tools to produce precision parts and components according to specifications. This role requires strong skills in reading blueprints, measuring accurately, and working with various materials, including metals and plastics. The machinist must ensure work is completed to exact tolerances and standards, often working independently or as part of a production team. Additional duties may include machine maintenance, troubleshooting issues, and collaborating with engineers or supervisors to improve manufacturing processes. Performs Machining Services in a variety of settings at client work sites. Key Responsibilities Operate manual lathes, vertical mills, drill presses, and saws Manufacture and repair shafts, sleeves, threads, keyways, and other components Perform inspections, overhauls, and rebuilding of compressors, turbines, and pumps Read and interpret blueprints, work scopes, and QC procedures Complete datasheets and documentation accurately Work with precision tolerances up to .0005″ Maintain a strong commitment to safety and UPS Core Values Qualifications 5+ years of machinist experience in an industrial setting required Experience with rotating equipment preferred Ability to set up and operate manual machine equipment independently High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or trade school preferred Valid driver’s license required Our Core Values Safety First Integrity Service Leadership Innovation Pride and Respect If you’re looking to join a growing team with opportunities to build your career in the industrial services industry, we encourage you to apply today.
