Job Overview The Podiatrist provides preventive care, diagnosis, and treatment of a wide range of problems affecting the feet, ankle, and lower legs. Responsibilities Treat bone, muscle, and joint disorders affecting the feet. Perform minor office surgeries such as partial nail avulsion, local abscess incision and drainage, and simple aspirations of cysts. Provide patient education on foot care through speaking engagements, advertising, and other forums. Perform administrative duties including hiring employees, ordering supplies, and maintaining records. Advise patients on treatments and foot care techniques to prevent future problems. Correct deformities using plaster casts and strapping. Diagnose diseases and deformities of the foot using medical histories, physical examinations, x‑rays, and laboratory tests. Fit prosthetic appliances. Prescribe medications, corrective devices, physical therapy, or surgery as indicated. Refer patients to physicians for systemic disorders such as arthritis or diabetes. Other duties as assigned and modified at the manager’s discretion. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Logical reasoning to evaluate alternative solutions and implement effective ones. Problem‑solving skills to identify complex problems and review related information. Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce sensible answers. Precise coordination of finger movements for manipulating or assembling small objects. Rapid and repeated adjustment of machine or vehicle controls to exact positions. Steady hand and arm while maintaining muscle control. Fluent in English. Education & Experience Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) degree. Graduation from an accredited college of podiatry with a valid, active license to practice in the state of employment. Completion of a two‑year residency program. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required within the first 90 days of employment. Compensation & Benefits Pay range: $189,593 – $270,847. Final compensation will depend on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors. Bonus or commission may be eligible.
