The Steward is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, sanitation, organization, and proper handling of china, glassware, silverware, flatware, pots, pans, utensils, and kitchen equipment throughout the hotel's Food & Beverage operations. This position supports the culinary, restaurant, and banquet teams by ensuring clean and sanitized equipment is readily available and that all kitchen and food preparation areas meet hotel cleanliness and sanitation standards.

The Steward will complete daily stewarding responsibilities and assigned weekly cleaning projects while maintaining the pot and pan areas, dishwashing areas, kitchens, and back-of-house workspaces in a clean, safe, and orderly condition.

Essential Functions

• Clean, sanitize, and properly store all china, glassware, silverware, flatware, pots, pans, utensils, and other Food & Beverage equipment.
• Operate dishwashing and pot-washing equipment safely and according to established procedures.
• Ensure restaurant, banquet, and culinary operations have sufficient clean china, glassware, silverware, pots, pans, racks, and other necessary equipment to support daily operations.
• Maintain proper cleanliness and sanitation of all kitchens and food preparation areas.
• Clean kitchen equipment and surfaces, including ovens, grills, stoves, hoods, fryers, preparation equipment, steam kettles, tables, sinks, floors, and trash receptacles.
• Maintain the pot and pan room and dishwashing areas in a clean, organized, and orderly manner.
• Transport clean and soiled pots, pans, dishes, glassware, silverware, and other equipment between kitchens, restaurants, banquet areas, and designated storage locations.
• Complete all assigned daily stewarding checklists and weekly or periodic deep-cleaning projects.
• Properly remove trash, food waste, and other refuse from kitchen and Food & Beverage areas and maintain cleanliness of designated waste areas.
• Follow proper procedures for the use, storage, and handling of cleaning chemicals and sanitation products.
• Follow hotel food-safety, sanitation, workplace-safety, and loss-prevention procedures.
• Immediately report broken equipment, safety hazards, maintenance concerns, or sanitation issues to management.
• Assist the culinary and Food & Beverage teams with additional cleaning and operational needs as assigned.
• Maintain a professional and cooperative working relationship with fellow employees and hotel leadership.
• Perform other duties as assigned based on the operational needs of the hotel.

Qualifications

Previous stewarding, dishwashing, restaurant, hotel, or kitchen experience is preferred but not required. The ideal candidate must be dependable, team-oriented, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced hospitality environment. The position requires the ability to follow instructions, maintain high cleanliness standards, and safely use commercial dishwashing equipment and cleaning products.

Physical Requirements

This position requires frequent standing and walking for extended periods, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting or carrying kitchen equipment and supplies. The Steward must be able to work in a kitchen environment that may include heat, steam, water, cleaning chemicals, wet surfaces, and varying temperatures.

Schedule Requirements

Must have flexible availability based on hotel business needs, including days, evenings/nights, weekends, and holidays.
