- Pay Rate: $38.00–$39.00 / Hour (USD)
- Shift / Schedule: Initial Training (Site Induction) on day shift; 8:00 PM – 8:00 AM; 4×3 day work schedule / 12-hour shifts / non-rotating
- Contract-to-Hire: Yes — potential to convert to full-time employee

Job Summary:
As a Data Center Technician, you will perform preventative maintenance and corrective repairs within a Data Center operation. This job is part of the Critical and Technical Services job function, responsible for technical maintenance services in critical client environments. The role involves both independent work and team collaboration in an active construction data center environment, monitoring systems and raising awareness of issues — repair work is not required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with daily site inspections of all Mechanical & Engineering systems and technical equipment, including servicing and maintenance.
- Ensure the site's environmental conditions provide a safe work environment.
- React to Building Management System alarms, and complete emergency repairs as needed.
- Work with third-party vendors, ensuring compliance with company-developed processes, procedures, and all applicable laws and regulations.
- Alert management if subcontractor performance doesn't meet all requirements per the Master Service Agreement.
- Complete planned preventative maintenance (PM) and reactive maintenance on all equipment.
- Check Client for running and alarm conditions and respond to HVAC-related client problems.
- Building walkthroughs, taking meter readings from UPS, PDUs, and utilities.
- Provide fixes to facility and plant faults and defects.
- Complete assigned work according to established processes and procedures. Follow all safety processes and requirements and ensure all regulatory requirements and quality standards are met. Conduct routine quality checks for comprehensive maintenance records.
- Complete all required training to ensure successful completion of all job-related responsibilities.
- Use existing procedures to solve straightforward problems while having a limited opportunity to exercise discretion.
- Impact through clearly defined duties, methods, and tasks are described in detail.
- Deliver own output by following defined procedures and processes under close supervision and guidance.
- Monitor and raise awareness for issues (repair work is not needed) across the following systems:
- Chillers and cooling towers
- Pumps
- Valves
- Fire protection systems
- Heat exchangers and liquid cooling systems
- Perform inspections of:
- Medium- and low-voltage switchgear
- UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) systems
- Power Distribution Units (PDUs)
- Backup generators and transfer switches
- Battery systems and monitoring equipment
- Monitor building management systems (BMS) and electrical monitoring systems (EMS).
- Conduct real-time system checks and log equipment performance.
- Participate in 24/7 on-call rotations and emergency response activities.
- Support installation, commissioning, and upgrades of electrical systems.
Required Skills:
- Some knowledge of SCADA, BMS/Client systems
- Ability to work under pressure in critical environments
- Effective communicator; able to escalate issues quickly
- Experience in a critical environment (required)
- Ability to work shifts that may include weekends and holidays
- Ability to follow basic work routines and standards in the application of work
- Communication skills to exchange straightforward information
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Strong organizational skills with an inquisitive mindset
- Basic math skills; ability to calculate simple figures such as percentages, discounts, and markups
- Basic computer skills
- Good customer service skills
Preferred Skills:
- BMS/Client system experience
- Safety skills and experience
Education Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required; in lieu of a diploma, a combination of experience and education will be considered
- Trade school is a plus
- Training in a technical discipline having served an apprenticeship or equivalent preferred
- HVAC or electrician license is a significant plus (none required)
Required Experience:
- 3 years of experience in a relevant technical or critical environment role
- 1–2 years of job-related experience (per technical discipline training requirement)
Work Environment / Physical Requirements:
- Active construction data center environment
- Must be able to meet the physical requirements of this role
- 24/7 on-call rotations and emergency response activities required
- 12-hour shifts on a 4×3 non-rotating schedule (8:00 PM – 8:00 AM)
- Safety shoes required for in-person interview (2nd round) and on-site work
- Pre-employment background check (CBRE Safety Specific) with drug screen required

- Interview process: 1st round virtual with hiring manager; 2nd round in-person with site tour — safety shoes will be required for the in-person round.
