About the Position

Job Title: Surgical Technologist Profession: Nursing Specialty: Surgical Technologist Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 8-10 hours Experience: Minimum of 3 years License: Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program Certifications: BLS required, CST preferred Must-Have: - Extensive and current experience in orthopedic, neuro, and vascular surgical procedures. - Excellent critical thinking skills. - Knowledge of central processing and instrumentation. Description: This assignment requires a highly skilled and experienced surgical technologist with a wide level of experience in orthopedic, neuro, vascular, and other surgical specialties. Candidates lacking a full breadth of current experience will not be considered. Actual weekly hours and shifts will be agreed upon during the phone interview. Guaranteed weekly hours will be adjusted based on hours agreed to by the surgical technologist. Candidates with minimal requested time off will receive priority consideration. The surgical technologist will work 40 hours per week, either four 10-hour shifts or five 8-hour shifts; start and end times are negotiable. There will be approximately every fifth weekend as a call weekend, split between call shifts, and 1-2 calls per week. Based on department needs and potential changes in staffing, the call volume could increase. All call requires a 30-minute response time from the time of the call to arrival on site. Holiday call rotation may also be required if a holiday falls within the surgical technologist's contract. This rotation is based on current patient census and staffing, so some variability may occur. Candidates must possess critical thinking skills and knowledge of central processing and instrumentation.
