This position supports the institution's pharmacy operations by assisting with medication preparation, inventory management, patient care activities, and administrative pharmacy functions while maintaining compliance with Bureau of Prisons policies and applicable healthcare standards. This is an on-site government contract opportunity offering a consistent weekday schedule in a professional correctional healthcare environment.Position Highlights:Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) contract opportunityFull-time, on-site position at FCI GilmerMonday–Friday schedule 6:00 AM – 1:30 PM (35 hours/week)No weekends; federal holidays observedKey Responsibilities:Assist pharmacist with medication preparation and dispensingOrder, stock, and maintain pharmacy inventoryPrepare unit-dose medications and Pyxis suppliesMonitor medication expiration datesMaintain narcotics and syringe inventoriesRestock emergency carts and automated dispensing systemsPerform pharmacy documentation and EMR data entrySchedule patients and complete clerical tasksParticipate in quality assurance and pharmacy competency activitiesMaintain clean and organized pharmacy work areasMinimum Qualifications:Completion of a formal Pharmacy Technician ProgramCompleted Pharmacy Technician internshipMinimum 1 year of Pharmacy Technician experienceCurrent BLS/CPR certificationKnowledge of pharmacy procedures, infection control, and medical equipmentStrong computer and documentation skillsPreferred Qualifications:Correctional healthcare experienceExperience with Pyxis or automated dispensing systemsKnowledge of Bureau of Prisons formulary proceduresWork EnvironmentFederal correctional healthcare facilityFrequent interaction with incarcerated patientsMust complete institution security orientationAdhere to BOP, Joint Commission (TJC), and ACA standardsAdditional RequirementsPass federal credentialing and security clearance requirementsMaintain current certificationsComply with employee health screening requirementsProfessional attire required (khaki and green clothing prohibited)
