Mammography TechnologistThe Mammography Technologist performs a variety of technical activities associated with the performance of screening and diagnostic mammography procedures. The Mammography Technologist uses specialized X-ray equipment to take images of the breast tissue and work with radiologists to interpret the results. The Mammography Technologist helps detect breast cancers early to improve the chances of successful treatment and survival.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Performs a variety of tasks involving the operation of mammographic radiographic equipment and other equipment/devices as appropriateExplains mammography procedure to all patients; answers any patient questions or concernsPositions patients, using immobilization when necessaryCalculates exposure factors, and assist physiciansPerforms the quality control functions related to mammographyEvaluates radiographs for diagnostic quality obtaining additional images as neededPrepares and sets up medical supplies using aseptic techniques if appropriate. Explains procedures to patients prior to start and ongoingDevelops mammography film and match with the appropriate paperwork for interpretationAssists in maintenance and compilation of statistical dataAdheres to all Amergis and worksite rules, policies and proceduresOther duties as assignedMinimum Requirements:Current State License or Certificate in state where they will be workingOne (1) year of experience as a Mammography Technician preferred.Good interpersonal skills and ability to accurately communicate with patientsComplies with all relevant professional standards of practiceParticipation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicableCurrent CPR if applicableTB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicableCurrent Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)Must meet all federal, state and local requirementsSuccessful completion of new hire training as applicable to job siteUnderstand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirementsAbility to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is requiredComputer proficiency requiredMust be at least 18 years of ageBenefits At Amergis:Competitive pay & weekly paychecksHealth, dental, vision, and life insurance401(k) savings planAwards and recognition programsAbout Amergis, formerly known as Maxim Healthcare Staffing, has served our clients and communities by connecting people to the work that matters since 1988.
