Schedule: Full-Time, Nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Location: Charlotte Orthopedic Hospital | Charlotte, NC

Join a specialized orthopedic team dedicated to helping patients regain mobility, restore function, and return to the activities they love. The Orthopedic Specialty Care Unit (OSCU) is a 39-bed unit that cares for patients recovering from elective orthopedic procedures and traumatic orthopedic injuries in a collaborative, patient-centered environment.

As a Registered Nurse on OSCU, you will play a critical role in delivering exceptional care throughout the recovery process while working alongside experienced physicians, therapists, and interdisciplinary team members. This position offers the opportunity to develop expertise in orthopedic nursing while making a meaningful impact on patient outcomes.

Patient Population

The OSCU team provides care for patients recovering from:

  • Total Hip Replacements
  • Total Knee Replacements
  • Spine Surgeries
  • Shoulder Surgeries
  • Elective Orthopedic Procedures
  • Orthopedic Trauma Cases, including fractures of the hip, ankle, arm, and leg

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to orthopedic patients
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans
  • Monitor patient conditions and respond appropriately to changes in clinical status
  • Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care
  • Educate patients and families on treatment plans, recovery expectations, and discharge instructions
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
  • Promote patient safety, comfort, mobility, and positive clinical outcomes
  • Demonstrate professional judgment, accountability, and leadership in daily practice

Qualifications

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Strong assessment, critical thinking, and clinical decision-making skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Commitment to delivering compassionate, patient-centered care
  • Orthopedic or acute care nursing experience preferred but not required
What We're Looking For:
  • Education : High School Diploma or GED, required. 4 Year / Bachelors Degree, preferred. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. If your RN nursing license has been inactive, retired or lapsed for five years or more and you have not been licensed in another state during the last five years, successful completion of a Board approved refresher course is required prior to reactivating or reinstating your license. In order to be considered for current licensure status, you must apply for reinstatement within one year of completing the refresher course.
  • Experience : One year relevant experience, preferred. 
  • Licensure/Certification:  Current RN licensure in appropriate state, required.
